On a visceral level, demolishing the East Wing is utterly sickening. The symbolism alone is far too on-point. Not to mention the entire operation is illegal.

On a human level, zip-tying kids and breaking families apart, or murdering boaters without a shred of evidence, is worse.

But it all sucks.

The Democrats need to get a hell of a lot of cameras on the White House and plaster the photos everywhere. It's not just the brazen symbol of a megalomaniac destroying national heritage; it's happening during a government shutdown when ordinary people aren't getting paid. Make every American see it.

billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society

also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

Yeah, I think that's lost on a LOT of people under the age of, like, 30-ish. Doc Brown's time machine was a DeLorean because DeLoreans were stupid garbage. It was a lemon he probably got for $500. Using it was just another thing made him look insane. 80s audiences would have understood that.
satire that people misunderstood: they picked the delorean for back to the future as a joke because it was a failed vision of the future

Protesters aren't the rioters. The cops are.
Los Angeles, CA -

Absolute chaos resulting from LAPD charge using batons, horse mounted units, “less lethal” projectiles. Protesters going in every direction. LAPD themselves don’t seem to know where protesters or press are supposed to be.

The President is announcing more extrajudicial killings today.

A reminder that the administration has provided no limiting principles and these killings are completely untethered from the law (there was no "armed attack," there's no "armed conflict," and these aren't "unlawful combatants").
Everything seems so disconnected from reality right now
Also, if you want a long one, Jefferson Mays' narration of the Expanse series is a great performance
Babel by RF Kuang. Fascinating premise: the subtle differences between words contain magic and 18th century Oxford's translation department is researching its properties

Quick question: If the Republicans are right, and someone is paying millions and millions of us to protest, and has done it hundreds of other times, and they STILL can't figure out who's funding us, aren't they way too stupid to hold office?
Sean Duffy: "The No Kings protest, Maria, really frustrating. This is part of antifa, paid protesters. It begs the question who's funding it."
It's supposed to do that 😁

Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

Its almost like anti-porn laws are never actually about porn. 🤔
Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.

Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.
Experts raise privacy concerns over Michigan bill targeting pornography and VPNs
Rep. Josh Schriver, the bill’s sponsor, says the law is designed to target only producers and distributors of pornography, not everyday internet users.

Food shelf visits tripled between 2020 and 2024. We are in a very precarious state in this country around hunger, and it's about to get worse with deep cuts to SNAP.

The shutdown will end. Hunger won't end with it.
Yes, news is not recommended.

I've noticed the opposing team's fans only cheer when the opponents score on us. To win those fans over, I recommend we score on ourselves repeatedly; that will surely make them so happy they'll start supporting us. And I'm sure all our fans will keep cheering for us—who else is there to cheer for?

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.
