There are 133 counties and county-equivalents in Virginia and New Jersey. In 127 of them, the vote shifted to the Democrats since November 2024. On average, the shift was 6 points to the left.

Bucks County, Pennsylvania, was ground zero for the conservative takeover of school boards & anti-LGBTQ policies in 2021, on the Central Bucks and Pennridge boards.

Dems flipped both boards back in 2023.

Tonight, Dems have ousted *all* Republicans from both school boards.

If this holds, it would be one of the largest state legislature swings in the last 4 years.

Its an absolute bloodbath for anti-trans Republicans.

I appreciated the opportunity to speak with you yesterday.
I welcome further engagement around how we can (a) enhance the long-standing
partnership between the federal government and this country's leading research
universities and (b) ensure that higher education stays focused on academic
excellence. As I shared on the call, I do not believe that the involvement of the
government through a compact--whether it is a Republican- or Democratic-led
White House-
is the right way to focus America's leading colleges and universities
on their teaching and research mission.
Our universities have a responsibility to set our own academic and institutional
policies, guided by our mission and values, our commitment to free expression, and
our obligations under the law. Staying true to this responsibility is what will help

Just received from a colleague: looks like Penn is going to join the universities refusing the extortionary Trump "compact". I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win

Since receiving the Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education on October 1, I have sought input from faculty, alumni, trustees, students, staff and others who care deeply about Penn. The goal was to ensure that our response reflected our values and the perspectives of our broad community.

Earlier today, I informed the U.S. Department of Education that Penn respectfully declines to sign the proposed Compact. As requested, we also provided focused feedback highlighting areas of existing alignment as well as substantive concerns.
