What I am saying is regardless of Carneys failings getting upset that he negotiating with the USA is ridiculous because as of right now that is required to participate in the world economy. I would point to new trade deals with other nations and new development for interprovincial commerce

I agree with you, regardless he could do all these things tomorrow, and for right now we would still need to negotiate with the US. And we likely will need to for at least the next 5 years. It is simply not possible to exist in the world economy without the USA right now, even if we wish it was.

I agree, but the original point was that it is not only unrealistic but foolish to expect total divestment from the US and a restructuring of the economic system overnight. There are more things carney should be doing to move away from that, but we would still need to come to the negotiating table.

Currently? Canada has the lowest tariff rate in the world from the US and has managed to avoid recession. While Canada is negotiating new trade deals with other nations. You do understand that the US as the economic powerhouse of the world is not exactly easy to detangle from?
