One down! Got my COVID shot and pharmacist said they're booked solid for several days. I got the appointment through the BC Vaccine line 1-833-838-2323.

This absolutely works, just booked.
FYI for BC residents, if you want a COVID booster/flu shot, I was able to search in my emails for a previous "Book your next vaccine appointment" from a previous year and click on the link and it just let me schedule my covid vaccine.
Good pho, huge portions and funky decor at Pho 37's new location on The Drive.
The reception counter at Pho 37 Vietnamese Restaurant shows two stylized, bulldog-shaped figurines wearing sunglasses: a black one holding a golden tray and a gold one with its mouth open, serving as a toothpick holder. In the background, there are vibrant orchid arrangements in pink and white against a brightly backlit blue-and-white art piece. A menu stand is visible to the right.
Garry Point Park on a sunny Thanksgiving day.
A vintage, matte black car with rusted patina is parked on a boat ramp leading to a calm blue harbour with a wooden dock, several boats, and a distant shoreline of green, forested mountains under a clear blue sky. Bushes and flowers frame the photo to the right.

Today, we honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

It’s a day to celebrate the immense contributions, vibrant cultures, and resilience of Native American and the indigenous communities.

Most of rural Alaska is Alaska Native. Bonus donating to support Alaska Native people on Indigenous Peoples Day.
Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

"Microplastics have been detected in the brains of dementia patients, and in arterial plaques from people with heart disease"

And the response of the plastics industry is......

....to massively ramp up plastic production

It's hard to help Americans left behind because so much of US identity is rooted in individualism. The average American conservative holds all three positions at once:

— Virtue signals about supporting US manufacturing
— Against raising the minimum wage
— Buys foreign imports because they're cheap
HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "I'm willing to pay more for quality products if they are made in America, by Americans, who are paid a decent income." The tweet shows Norman Rockwell's "Freedom of Speech" painting, which is often used to show the tweeter is expressing a brave opinion. HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "MINIMUM WAGE JOBS WERE NOT MEANT TO BE A CAREER. Why does no one understand this? Entry level jobs are STEPPING STONES to better jobs. No one wants to work towards that though." HardPass4 on Twitter tweets: "Buy $5 gloves instead of $50 ones. Trust me." The tweet shows a box of "Gorilla Grip" gloves. The label on Gorilla Grip gloves show they're made in China.
So this weekend starts the Thanksgiving (Canada)-Halloween-Black Friday-Holiday season extravaganza cooked up for us consumer schmucks. Time to take a good long breath, cause the next time you look around, it will be 2026.

Dental Phantom, c.1898. Or, what it feels like to live in 2025.

The dental phantom was first created by the Glaswegian dentist Eduard Oswald Fergus a few years earlier as a tool for students to practice their craft before working on human subjects.
A metal head with a mouth wide open as if it is screaming. Inside are a full set of dentures.
Great seeing Amy and Tina as terrible twins in SNL's cold open.
Huh, a red apple however you slice it.
I remember this Annie Leibovitz cover and love how it makes the gaze travel from the left with the super-styled actors to finally rest on Diane Keaton as an exclamation point, looking also very stylish, but in her own inimitable way.
RIP Diane Keaton
My favourite picture of her where everyone else is giving it their best Blue Steel & she looks like she’s just wandered in off the street looking super cool.
She was allowed to wear her own clothes & her wonderful personality shines out.
What a unique talent & human being.
QT this post with someone you wish was still alive.
