Hey I’m willing to admit I don’t think Beck has produced anything of major quality to equal Odelay, but I’m not sure I would throw him out with the sink…

I’m reposting this because it exemplifies what’s great about research. Novel findings dependent on modern technologies but supported by, and advancing while reinforcing, the body of research generated by past investigators.

I love it so much. Seeing these classical structures that people have seen and described and documented always gives me so much joy. Like what do you mean I'm seeing the same thing you saw decades ago and those things are still true!

Beautiful - & always a joy to find old-school text representations still reflect real biology.

I found these immune cells just finished mitosis but their midbody is still yet to be resolved. How cool? If you zoom in to the midbody, you can see its classical shape just like in the textbooks. I love these little details.

Oh FFS - someone explain scientific methodology to the worm eaten conspiracy nut & his demented tangerine mate, using some sort of picture book & the promise of ‘treats’.

Saw the image, thought ‘that has to be Super Res’, then saw the first post & felt vindicated.

Then remembered I’d already seen (& liked) your post about getting your Elyra.

Still … the Elyra is a beautiful machine, as evidenced by your beautiful SR image.

Just fuck off with this. How about start the conversation by highlighting how much immigrants contribute to the UK - not least by propping up the NHS and social care system!

Also - forced volunteering is not volunteering, it's unpaid labour.

Stop blaming migrants and tackle real problems, 100 charities tell UK Govt.

Govt follows Reform agenda, failed to develop effective counter narrative.

Migrants are vital part of economy, public services. Economic problems caused by inequality, austerity, privatisation, political corruption.

Cue me storming about the house shouting ‘Has anyone seen my stereo glasses? … Yes we have some! I put them somewhere safe! … No I don’t know where! If I knew where I wouldn’t be asking…’.

So a normal evening at home then.

Years later my 12yr old daughter’s 1st gig - The Specials. She in her M1 jacket, fringe haircut, skinny jeans & docs. In to buy her own Merch - comes out surrounded by Skinheads. “Them: This your girl mate? Me: Yeah? Them: That’s f*cken beautiful”.
So proud. Something for you to look forward to.

One of my first gigs - as a school kid with aviator glasses & bowl haircut- I somehow got into a StrayCats gig.
I’ve no idea why I was allowed in, or not beaten up when I got in, presumably they all felt sorry for me.
A fantastic night that set me on a path to embrace blues, ska, whatever.

Yeah much the same (not Grunge, but Slipknot leaves me cold - & I have tried). I just find it weird when people won’t accept you don’t embrace their favourite music. I’m still scarred by the reaction I had after admitting in the 80’s/90’s that I loathed The Smiths/Morrissey (not Johnny Marr).

Gonna be honest- Kimmel’s joke about people desperately watching all 4 seasons of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ struck home as I (guiltily) watched the Thunderbolts early Sun morning prior to cancelling my subscription.
Obviously my penance is publicly admitting my need to watch the Thunderbolts.

Genuinely interested in terms of your take on genres. I’m guessing 90’s west coast Grunge (Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Nirvana etc) is not
your thing, but what about the east coast sound? I’m thinking specifically of Beastie Boys (Intergalactic, Sabotage etc - not ‘Fight for your right to party’)?
