In response to the No Kings protest in Austin, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is sending in the National Guard, the Texas Rangers, state troopers & Public Safety personnel “supported by aircraft and other tactical assets.” www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
Abbott to send National Guard to Austin for No Kings rally
Abbott’s deployments come as Republicans, led by House Speaker Mike Johnson, vilify the planned nationwide protests as a “hate America” gathering.

The oldest person in the ‘Young Republicans’ racist text chain that MAGA is defending as a ‘college chat’ is 40 years old.

The VA Attorney General candidate that MAGA is demanding to drop out over violent texts is 36 years old.

It doesn’t take much perspective to reveal utter GOP hypocrisy.

They’ve gone from “a concept of a plan” to “pages and pages and pages of ideas” in just a mere 15 years. 🤪
KERNEN: It's like Republicans are in the wilderness about what to do to fix our healthcare

MIKE JOHNSON: Actually, we're not. We're not. We've got pages and pages and pages of ideas of how to reform healthcare. You can't rip Obamacare out at the roots. It's too deeply ingrained now."

Yet another reason to keep a close eye on that state where Democrats could flip, #IAGov, #IASen, #IA01, #IA02, and #IA03 in 2026 after they flipped 2 State Senate seats in 2025.

When euphemisms enable the transition to authoritarianism. (As they always do.)
"Diorama of power dynamics." Beyond euphemism, that is glib glorification of dictatorship. The #BrokenTimes would rather show off its turn of phrase than call fascism what it is.

I’m a Pennsylvania Democratic Party voter. It most certainly will not tear us apart. Fetterman has been a huge disappointment (to put it mildly) and Dem voters I know will join me in crawling over broken glass to oust him and elect an actual Democrat.

SCOOP: Top Democrats in Pennsylvania are maneuvering to run against Sen. John Fetterman in a 2028 primary, threatening to tear the party apart in the biggest battleground state in the nation.
Scoop: Dems plot Fetterman ouster
He's still popular with Pennsylvania voters, even as Democrats turn on him.

Primaries don’t “tear parties apart.” They strengthen them, produce new leaders, stimulate essential debates on direction. The “tear parties apart” language is a tool of establishment pols to discourage much needed challenges. What will hurt Dems most is another Fetterman term.

Mike Johnson thinks the No Kings rallies are threat but he’s cool with January 6 felons being pardoned so they can commit more crimes—just like their Orange diva god-king.

This is the GOP now: selective legality, selective framing, selective constitutionality.

And *they* do the selecting.

Been listening to more political podcasts lately, and hands-down the worst one is the daily Politico Playbook Podcast. The hosts regularly cover Trump’s authoritarian moves like they are covering a sporting event, and often gush over him in the process. Shameful garbage.
