Bringing this over from the other place for my pinned post that really says it all about me:
Kid Cat from Animal Crossing: New Horizons saying "Sorry. I'm just like this."

What's truly wild is the one card I probably would have built a deck for, Peter B. Parker (for cosplay reasons), was never gonna be in the set because he was a bespoke multiversal Spider-Man created for the Sony Spiderverse movies! If he had a comic appearance, he'd have been eligible for a card.

If the art was critiqued and vetted as closely as the content Creator numbers for the set (as few as 6-10 only from figures I heard)... That kind of freedom of style wasn't going to happen here.

Holy shit. This is Angelo Elia, a legislative correspondent for Congressman Dave Taylor.

According to @rooster.info, during a Zoom meeting today, he had an American nazi flag displayed in the background.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

For what limited time and energy I have to turn towards Magic set releases these days, nothing jumped out at me besides "ooh that art is neat!" in having Marvel characters in MTG artists style.

(rk post's Secret Identity callback to Unmask is so fuckin choice.. Just don't ask me what the card does)

It's the only way I can picture this rhetoric being fed now. For a while, it definitely was "I'm gonna make something up that's clearly not happening to fit my narrative".

But now? With the amount of people in that admin with ties to genAI projects?

It just sets up a whole alternate reality.

Its also hard to have negative commentary from influencers/creators when they're shelving content left and right they had planned to make on the set because the effort-to-views/clicks isn't there. Rebell isn't the only one I know who did this. bsky.app/profile/rebe...

Not dunking on Spiderman, but I have like 4 different deck techs I planned to do but player sentiment is so low I just put it all on backburner and focused on Standard instead
dixonij.bsky.social
The playerbase just completely bounced off the set and set up the spiral/ouroboros of "players don't like the set, so I won't make content about the set, but if I do, its gotta mention the negative reaction, which reinforces that players don't like the set..."

To borrow from @caljones.com in the replies:

MTG: Marvel's Spider-Man set relased 26 September 2025.

ONE WEEK LATER, the preeminent Limited format podcast that most players lean heavily upon for set reviews and strategies and the set 'sunset show' had their Spider-Man Sunset Show on 3 October.

To what degree did negative player commentary impact your content schedule for Magic the Gathering / Marvel's Spider-Man after the set released:

i don't feel like magic set surveys usually have this question and i don't appreciate the implication that content creators, who do so so much for the game, are possibly to blame for a bad set's poor performance. 👎

Until anyone actually faces jail time for flagrantly violating U.S. laws and codes for misappropriation of funds, they'll keep doing it.

Trump and Vought are now breaking both sides of spending law. They’re illegally not spending where the law requires them to spend, and they’re illegally spending where they don’t have the money to spend.

What we have is an appropriations king.

Spending “deals” are meaningless under that setup.

Funnily enough, my drills always said some of the best shots they would usually see per class would be the stereotypical country boy who's had a gun in hand since they could walk and a girl who had never even touched a firearm before.

Honestly, that feels like a question shoved in by whatever IP team from Disney/Marvel of "yo, why is our first big collaboration not getting the same love that Final Fantasy got? Was it the YouTubers?"

(Pure speculation on my part of course)

Negative influencer commentary only came about because the set earned it?

The Spider-Man set sadly fell victim to late scope change during dev and that showed.

(Kudos to the Game Design/R&D for making the best possible lemonade they could with the switch-up lemons they were handed)
