My debut poetry collection, alongside the wonderful @quotidianwriter.bsky.social releases in September!

THE SHIP AND THE STORM is a conversation in poetry, as we delve into subjects ranging from loss and memory to war and nature, and I really hope you'll give it a read.
Had the wedding/at the rat hole/still remember/your sister scored coke though/then she blew through/like the President/so damn glad/I'm no longer resident

ME: Ooooookay, not my cup of tea, but given everything going on in the world I totally get it. I know when I think about the anti-Christ as a wealthy, powerful guy who makes everyone bow to him and pretends to be a friend of Israel, I think of--

THIEL: Greta Thunberg! Me too!

ME: What?
Real "L'Etat c'est moi" territory from the executive.
I don't care what it costs to build or what it costs to tear down, but the next President needs to demolish Trump's new "ballroom" as soon as he gets into office.
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

Not only do they not touch them, the actively use them in their campaigns! "NHS will get more money once we leave the EU" and "migrants are stealing YOUR government healthcare" were/are key components of right wing messaging in the UK, for instance.
"'reason that rei is attractive to men'... and so began the Evangelion Best Girl Debates which convulsed listservs and forums, leading to locked threads, fired mods, and violent social discourse that defined a generation."

video stores aren't "good," but going out and engaging with the world is good, while staying home half-watching the latest garbage the Netflix algorithm shoved at you while scrolling through your Insta feed is a form of cultural and spiritual malnourishment encouraged by corporate psychopaths
Yeah, I think I see the problem here - it's not that the video store was good, it's that you miss being a teenager
The fact that David Simon himself retweeted this post clowning on him into my timeline gives me hope for all of us.

(Plus, who among us hasn't done something or almost done something like this before?)
Blueskyism in full swing here by making a renouned, award winning journalist screenwriter fall for the most obvious of parody accounts.
Wow! I'm glad we got a better cover for once. (A lot of times I find I prefer the UK cover.)
I also prefer the one on the left, which I imagine is the UK cover, correct?

Which cover do you prefer? Now that I have author copies of both US and UK editions of TIGERS BETWEEN EMPIRES, I am giving away 1 of each, signed, to 2 random people who like/reskeet this. US addresses only. Will announce winners on Friday, Oct 24, 2025, before official release (Nov 4). 🐅🌍 #booksky

Paul Auster's *Lupin.*
Pitch: new season of Lupin, in which the first three seasons were all part of a fiendishly complex long-term metatextual scheme to burgle the Louvre under cover of scouting locations for season four.
I wonder how much of the Shinji/female dyanmic in Evangelion is a relic of a particular culture/timeperiod. Now that I think about it, there are a number of Shinji and insane women characters in Murakami novels--and Murakami emerged from the same formative cultural period in Japan.
It is bonkers to me that *anyone* has romantic interest in Shinji. A true bit of author/viewer wish fulfillment/"But my Charlie Brown really DOES have hoes" moment if there ever was one.
For the love of god, will one of these reporters please ask a follow up and have the Speaker tell us exactly what the President is "satirizing" and what the point being made is?
Q: What does it say that president released a video of him pooping on the American people?

MIKE JOHNSON: You can argue he's probably the most effective person who has ever used social media. He's using satire to make a point. He's not calling for the murder of his political opponents.
INTERVIEWER: It says here that your expertise is in human cloning and that, uh... you, um, cloned your dead wife to form the basis for... *squints at document* Am I reading this right?

GENDO: ...

INTERVIWER: This is a joke, right? Like... somebody's fucking with me right now, right?
It is a rule of mine that if Patton is the first general someone mentions--in any context--they can be written off. They don't know anything about Patton or history. They know about George C. Scott *as* Patton and the 1970 movie *as* history.

They hate artillery because 155s don't care about your PT score or your run time when they land nearby and turn you into a very ugly corpse.

my woke take is that entirely too many people feel entitled to the benefits of a social contract while not feeling bound by the responsibilities of said contract
When I read this, my first thought was that this was a bit, but then I got the sinking feeling that this is something that actually happened, and... *sigh* yep.
I know it's a fool's errand to expect anything from the media but "President posts video of himself dumping diarrhea on America" is an important thing to call attention to for a dozen reasons
