Photograph of author Die Booth, a middle aged white man with shoulder length dark hair, dark eyes and facial hair. He is lying on a floral bed cover with copies of his books spread out around his head like a booky halo. Books from left are: Making Friends, My Glass is Runn, Spirit Houses, Cool S and 365 Lies.

I am admittedly very resistant to bureaucracy in general, but yeah, in this instance it is just straight up the government trying to control people and it is a very bad and hard to enforce idea. Like, damn, I won't download the Dice tickets app on my phone, they still have to let me into gigs!

Quick, someone tell the Guardian I personally fart on every one of my print books that goes to sale, maybe I'll get some hate-publicity 🙄

I am annoyed that I even know about that stupid garlic scented book stunt now, because they're evidently just trying to rage-bait people with it to promote the book, and it's evidently working. Not that I'll remember the book, or author, or ever buy one. So who knows if it'll translate into sales.

You should be concerned about the rate of authors leaving publishing. Especially from marginalized communities. This year I have seen so many authors just pack it up and go. And it's only getting worse.

The feeling of the Gazan citizen now is that he survived and will not die from the missiles, and also his feeling that he literally lost everything.

Mmm, they say 'mandatory' but I will not be getting one, thank you.
There's no way they can enforce this, short of providing everyone with a smartphone, which they are clearly too cheap to do.

That's so cool! What are the odds! I hope the con went well. Whitby is awesome, me and my partner have been going since 2006 on and off. It's changed a lot over the years, but definitely well worth it if you ever make it over.

(Obviously not the same gig I went to, but the only live clip I can find of them on Youtube!)

Ah this is so awesome! Were you at Whitby, or did I just acquire the flyers there? It's so nice to think there's that thread of goth going through the years :)

Saw Moth Slut at the Star & Garter last Friday and it was phenomenal, like being transported back to 2002. I hadn't been to that venue for 22 years & it was EXACTLY the same, and the band are a billion times better live than recorded (and they are damn good recorded!) youtu.be/ZmUUdqH47Ks?... #goth

I feel like I shouldn't keep /everything/ but also realistically I'm not gonna amass as much from now on because everything is digital (😢) so if I only end up with twice the amount of boxes I have now by the time I'm old, then that's not too bad a paper hoard 😅 (Let's just not mention photos 😅)

I know, isn't it awesome?!

I love them so much! I have such fond memories of waiting for them to arrive in the post, then tucking them into a picture frame so I could see them every day and look forward to the event. I get so excited for a physical ticket now!

Also related: found these flyers that I /must/ have picked up around 2007/8(?) at Whitby Goth Weekend, and - is this the same @thesamantharei.bsky.social from OFMD fandom? It is a very small world/goth scene 🖤 4/4
Flyer for "An Elegant Wonderland - Blasphemina's Closet by Samantha Rei" "Beautiful handmade garments for fancy lads and ladies" It features a photograph of a young woman with brown skin, dark eyes and long curly black hair in an up-do, she is smiling and wears a pale blue long-sleeved bolero jacket with a satin ribbon fastening, over a white dress. Flyer for "an elegant wonderland... please join our tea party" "a sumptuous afternoon tea service for lolitas and dandies hosted by Samantha Rei of Blasphemina's Closet" 2008 It features cartoon style illustrations of two gothic lolitas, one is a woman with brown skin and red hair in a pink dress, one is a woman with pale skin and blonde hair with blue ribbons in her hair and a pearl necklace. 'Kakkoicon registration' on the back of the previously pictured flyer - registration to attend Kakkoi Con in 2008.

Related: @bubblegumzines.bsky.social if you ever still want any photos of old ticket stubs, I have found about ten million Rachel Stamp ones now 😂 3/

ticket stubs post-event, but looking back through all the lovely holo-printed gig ticket stubs I've kept from 1994 onwards is so nice (gonna put them all in an album) and I'm really quite sad that you don't get printed tickets now and even if you did print them it'd just be a QR on printer paper 2/

In the ongoing gargantuan task of sorting and storing nearly 50 years of letters and cards, one of the biggest things that has struck me is that not only do I miss exchanging handwritten letters, I also REALLY miss gig tickets. I know digital is better for the environment and most people just bin 1/

I hardly dare to hope any more but watching Zack Polanski on Question Time almost gives me hope 🤞

okay, brace yourselves for this folks.

An english politician speaking honestly and (in my view) accurately, without a hint of spin, racism or rhetoric. And the audience clapped!

This is not AI. this actually happened on BBC last night. 👇

(the new leader of the UK Greens Party: Zack Polanski)

The BBC is doing an incredibly in-depth interview with someone talking about the Israeli hostages. I'm glad they will be freed, but why are we not hearing anything about the Palestinian hostages held by Israel, some of whom are children and medics?

I hate this woman so damn much. I think I'm actually, after nearly 50 years on this planet, gonna join a political party, because the Green Party are the only vague hope I can see for this island overrun by bigots.
