Johnson: "We call it the Hate America Rally that will happen Saturday. Let's see who shows up for that. I bet you you'll see Hamas supporters, I bet you'll see antifa types, I bet you'll see Marxists on full display, people who don't want to stand and defend the foundational truths of this republic"

The most expensive political ad campaign of the year is being run by the Department of Homeland Security, spending at least $51 million on ads thanking President Trump for securing the border.

Clark: "We published our transparency approach for what a federal framework could look like. Has David Sacks published an approach for what federal regulation of AI could look like? Because he’s saying that that’s what’s needed."

@anthropic.com co-founder Jack Clark on pushing back on White House: "It’s very bizarre to me that others are not doing the same thing. That says something larger about where we are in the country’s history more than anything else.”

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

Tiny 'making of' vid here - youtu.be/_2RacX9DgWM...
Three images showing photographers in a studio, standing around a black curtained area with a projector and a 'Windows' logo etched onto a glass pane. The lower image shows a version of the iconic blue windows background, with blue lasers outlining and passing through an angled Windows logos against a dark background.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Lowering the flag was once a relatively rare symbol of public mourning and respect. It has now “become a largely empty gesture, illegible to the broader public and ultimately ignored,” Justin Murphy argues:
Stop Lowering the Flag
The symbol of public mourning loses its meaning when it’s used too much.

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...

Thankfully Meta links to the source material. This is the kind of stuff Meta’s AI is feeding on and regurgitating as fact to billions of people. Embarrassing.
