While playing 5e, can you never find a spell worth casting that doesn't eat at that concentration you're already holding?
In #6thDawn I've modified spellcasting where concentration is usually optional, but you might not want to give it up.

Optional Concentration

Some spells have an active component beyond yourself that you must control, but otherwise work without your intervention. If you choose to concentrate on these spells, they work just as concentration spells above. However, you can choose to not concentrate on them, this keeps the spell going with no control over it whatsoever.

Fear

3rd-rank illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (30-foot cone)
Components: V, S, M (a white feather or the heart of a hen)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 minute

You project a phantasmal image of a creature's worst fears. Each creature in a 30-foot cone must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or drop whatever it is holding and become frightened of you for the duration. *While concentrating on this spell*, you can use your action to target all creatures in another 30-foot cone, but can't affect a creature again if it has succeeded on a saving throw against this casting of fear.

Invisibility
2nd-rank illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (an eyelash encased in gum arabic)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 hour

A creature you touch becomes invisible until the spell ends. Anything the target is wearing or carrying is invisible as long as it is on the target's person. The spell ends for a target that attacks or casts a spell.

*While concentrating on the spell* and no creatures currently benefit from the spell, you can use your action to touch another creature to turn it invisible.

Moonbeam
2nd-rank evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (several seeds of any moonseed plant and a piece of opalescent feldspar)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 minute

A silvery beam of pale light shines down in a 5-foot radius, 40-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range. Until the spell ends, dim light fills the cylinder.

When a creature enters the spell's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it is engulfed in ghostly flames that cause searing pain, and it must make a Constitution saving throw. It takes 2d10 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

A shapechanger makes its saving throw with disadvantage. If it fails, it also instantly reverts to its original form and can't assume a different form until it leaves the spell's light.

*While concentrating on this spell*, you can use an action to move the beam 60 feet in any direction.

A huge spectral blue centipede swirls through the air around a tall Elven woman with sharp features and windswept hair. A black cloak billows around her shoulders as she raises a hand glowing with Magenta magic to cast through an elaborate staff, her blue eyes burn from the shadow of her wide-brim hat. Spider lilies dot the base of a small shrine to a centipede god in the foreground. The ghostly apparition seems to originate from the smoke of its incense.

A Kitsune Magus summons 5 motes of foxfire while wreathed in a magical aurora. They have the cross fox fur pattern and are bundled up in a Greatcoat with lots of occult odds and ends tucked into belt pouches and a purple sash. Their rock familiar hangs from a netted bag on their belt, with a battered red spellbook is stowed on the opposite side.

A Tanglefolk (Similar folk to Halflings) woman smiles at the viewer. She is dark skinned with tightly curled hair dyed blue toward its tips, she wears colorful yellow and blue clothing with bright geometric patterns and is covered in pouches and stowage for wares and small objects. She has a Songstaff slung over her shoulder, a blend between Ocarina and walking stave, it whistles when swung or as the Tanglefoot sprint at their famed high speeds.

An illustration of my take on a 'hound' of Tindalos from the Lovecraft Mythos. Rather than a dog it is shaped more like a Gulper eel with eerily humanoid limbs and a barbed tongue. It floats elegantly like smoke from a sharp angle torn in reality.
