I’m excited for Mamdani to win the mayoral race in part because it will make the worst people in New York sad.

I honestly believe that opposition to Me Too—or even willingness to mock it—is an indicator of personal moral rot and nascent conservatism. So far this has a 100% predictive accuracy.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?
ok but why does "art that makes you uncomfortable" mean rape porn half the time? like i was just having a conversation about how one of my favorite films triggered a literal panic attack, i promise the critique of rape porn isn't primarily driven by "discomfort" or "ick" or whatever.

"The review of mifepristone marks the second time in less than a week that the Trump administration has marshaled false medical claims and junk science in an effort to constrain the freedoms of pregnant women and curtail their access to relief," writes Guardian US columnist Moira Donegan.

rape is bad and sex is good, therefore rape must not be a kind of sex at all. this is absurd and very much not what feminist critiques of the "uncontrollable desire" model of rape were trying to argue. they absolutely criticized our culture for constructing "sex" in patriarchal, rapey terms.
liberal sex positive feminists have taken this basic idea - that rape is driven by a desire to exercise power, not uncontrollable horniness - and used it to cast sexual violence outside the domain of "sex" entirely. this is often rooted in a tendency to essentialize sex as neutral or even good.
yes and no. the idea that "rape is about power, not sex" was meant to communicate the first part of this post: rape is not the result of uncontrollable desire. it was never meant to fully *desexualize* rape as a practice of social domination though, and that's problematic.
What you have to understand is that sexual violence is violence, not sex.

It is not motivated by an inability to control one's sexual desires; it is motivated by a desire to hurt, contaminate, defile, often in response to perceived slights
y'all know you can just go to 4chan if that's your thing, right??
We keep telling this restaurant we’re deathly allergic to censorship and they keep insisting it’s just a little bit.

making it clear that everyone in a porn video consented is good actually
a lot of folks who took a principled stand in favor of platforms deplatforming fascists are about to make a hard 180 and suddenly decide deplatforming is censorship actually

1. Great news for trans students in Chicago.

Chicago Public Schools has announced it will defy Trump's demand to ban trans youth from bathrooms.

Trump will now pull millions in federal funds.

Metroidvanias are either Protestant or Catholic. Castlevania? Catholic, of course. Metroid? Protestant. Blasphemous is Catholic. Dead Cells, Protestant.

Hollow Knight is Protestant, but Hollow Knight: Silksong is Catholic. That's why people are complaining the game is hard. Cause it's Catholic now.

indigenous systems of knowledge production did not and do not need legitimization by way of their alleged similarity to white western science, they do not need approval from that or any other western discourse full stop
the problem with "indigenous people were actually already doing science, we were just too racist to recognize it" is that you are still upholding white western forms of knowledge production as the standard against which all others are judged
we - and here i mean marginalized critics of science more generally - absolutely do question the absolute epistemic authority of science, as well as the onto-epistemology that underlies the western enlightenment metaphysics which tends to guide most scientific practice today
and certainly it's true that reactionaries strawman these arguments, presenting them in the most ridiculous light possible. but "scientific ways of knowing and their knowledge products aren't universal or transcendent" is in fact a common argument made by indigenous sts scholars
really enjoying this. the only critique i have is he does this thing liberals often do in the face of radical decolonial critiques of science, where they try to water down those critiques bc surely reactionaries are lying when they say these scholars deny the universality of scientific knowledge
