Healthcare advice from John Scalzi!

If you're a writer/other creator in the United States, consider creating an LLC for your business and then signing up for a local area Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have health insurance plans that pool their members and members of other CoCs to create insurance efficiencies relative to ACA.
Fiber arts. Crocheting, as above. Also knitting, spinning, quilting, embroidery...🧶🪡
How clever is that!
Agreed, those underarm gaps on raglan/yoke sweaters can be VERY frustrating 🤨

Here’s the most effective method I have found so far to eliminate them 🧶🧶🧶 #knitting

This post is funny, but it just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the history of feminine labor and craft.

Spinsters dismantled the Spinning Jenny by hand. Suffragettes used acid and bombs to attack politicians. Militant textile workers went on strike by the tens of thousands.
The Venn Diagram of protestors today who would count as hardcore antifa that are ready to take up arms for the revolution and people whose primary hobby is quilting would be interesting to see.

Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

One January I challenged myself: how fast could I make a hat, &2 how many hats could I make before I was sick of them (no other projects to break it up, just hats)

Six. It's six hats before I'm done on hats for a while

Even if you can't march, you can withhold your money.
Stitch. By. Stitch.

Combine that with #embroiderers, who have the patience to stab something a thousand times and more

And bring receipts.
Local independent yarn store.
(Ok back in the day it was Ben Franklins five and dime stores, cuz that's what was available rurally. Decades later, I know better, and I can drive myself)
Referring to Miller, of course

obviously ridiculous on its own but consider these demos are encouraged to get permits/share route with pd. for this request to come ahead of that protest, which will likely be like NKs past (extremely calm), you gotta wonder if LAPD are Plotting Something a la 2020 NYPD Mott Haven cop riot
“LAPD wants judge to lift an order restricting use of force against the press” 😭😭😭

“Ahead of this Saturday’s No Kings protests, the Los Angeles Police Department has filed an emergency motion asking a judge to lift an injunction that restricts their use of force against the press.”

The police department filed an emergency order ahead of this Saturday's No Kings protest.

The more available photos of a protest the higher the likelihood that the state will use them to prosecute people. Do not contribute to the problem by giving them something to subpoena. A few reporters working a crowd is less of a problem than 100s or 1000s of people doing it.
Folks, if you are at a public protest, it's highly likely that you will be photographed. Definitely try to avoid taking identifying photos but there's a chance your face ends up in the paper.
Don't photograph anyone else at a protest either.

Swearing in isn’t some ceremony. You aren’t a member of Congress until it happens. He knows that.

No phones, no staff, nothing.

I had to escort her into the Capitol on Wed bc Capitol police must treat her as a public visitor until she’s sworn in. And solo visitors aren’t allowed during shutdown!
Johnson: "Grijalva should be working for her constituents right now. I don't know what she's doing. I keep seeing their political stunt videos. She should be in her office. She should be working or in the district for her constituents" (Grijalva is not in fact a Rep. b/c Johnson refuses to seat her)

BREAKING: An appeals court denied the Trump administration's latest effort to deploy National Guard troops in the Chicago area.

This ruling is more confirmation that President Trump's attempts to send troops into our communities are unjustified and cannot continue.
