I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I like how working in collections sometimes means sifting through reams of accompanying reports and sometimes means uncovering a single handwritten note saying “mystery tubes.”

Very, very few comic book creators can survive on just the money they make from comics. It is an inherently unstable job and it is only getting worse as time goes on. Don't ever be embarrassed or ashamed of needing another job so that you can keep making comics.

Not being able to make a living just from your art doesn't make you a failure as an artist, it just means you're a totally normal working artist.
