Top view of a plastic, battery-powered, pumpkin orange votive candle. 1.5" in diameter. Just like the ones the pioneers used (except theirs weren't plastic, battery-powered, or pumpkin orange). Like all high-class faux candles, this one comes complete with an artificial flicker. I have at least 12 now, with no real use for any of them - which means they fit right in with about 90% of the other things I own.

Try No. 2 of intentionally spinning sock yarn and I’m much happier with this! As you can see in the 2nd pic, it’s the right thickness but doesn’t have as much twist as commercial sock yarn. I’m ok with that, I will use it for colourwork, not on toes or heels.

I’m holding a blue skein of handspun tweed yarn. It is spun fine, with a slight sheen and green neps. The background is a blurry garden. Holding three yarns over a WPI (wraps per inch) card. The first yarn was my first attempt at sock yarn, it is ~11wpi, DK weight. The second is my second attempt, 20wpi, fingering weight. The third is commercial sock yarn, 20wpi, fingering weight.
