It’s pronounced ‘PRIMM-er’ if you mean “a small book” or “a short informative piece of writing.”

It’s pronounced ‘PRY-mer’ if you mean “an initial coat of paint.”

🔥 New fire paper out - Fire regime changes in Canada: an update. Overall, the big-picture trends remain consistent: annual area burned, the annual number and size of large fires are still increasing, but the total number of fires for all sizes continue to decline.

Most (all?) of my research collaborations over the past 15 y have come from social media. I'm not where I am now without it.

Oh, and I once got to trade posts with the guy who wrote/directed the Usual Suspects. We have the same name and a friend tagged him by accident. That was cool.

It seems like more PhD's these days end up in careers outside academia, I've often wondered if we should call Academia the alternative career path.
