SELECTS THE BEST
MYSTERY STORIES FROM THE PAST YEAR
From over 3,000 considered stories published in the past year, this anthology contains the twenty best, selected by #1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham under the auspices of New York City's legendary crime fiction specialty store The Mysterious Bookshop. Included are tales of suspense, detection, and puzzlement that illuminate the diversity of styles contained under the "mystery" umbrella. There's something for everyone in this celebrated anthology, now in its fifth year, which continues to dazzle with the breadth of its selection and which draws from sources as disparate as Black Cat Weekly, Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, and Conjunctions.
Plus, it's all capped off with an additional "bonus story" from an earlier era, sourced from the bookshop's rare book room.

It’s an #unboxing for my Nebula and BSFA award finalist #SFF novel, THE INN AT THE AMETHYST LANTERN! Ahead of the release of its sequel on October 21, THE SECRET OF THE SAPPHIRE SENTINEL, I got more copies of the first book in the series. #books @press-android.bsky.social

Really excited (and terrified) to watch Bigelow's new film, A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE.

Only took 45 years for me to realize Jack also has the shining in The Shining.

A favorite of mine growing up. Which made it all the more surreal when I ran into Peter Weller and John Litghow at different locations on the same day.

Absolutely. All the best to you, Maureen.

Love something as much as Michael Crichton enjoyed torturing fictional teams of scientists.

If you haven't noticed, I really like to celebrate stuff (movies, books, TV shows) I love. I can understand if that's annoying.

I just don't enjoy putting creative stuff down.

This movie is so damn great. Every part of it. Especially the cinematography and matte paintings.

What's the best reboot of a franchise? For me... PLANET OF THE APES.

PANIC ROOM is such an underrated Fincher film. Top 5 for me. Perfect in every way. Including the casting. I've never been more afraid of a country western musician.

The only Jared Leto performance that hits for me every time is PANIC ROOM, which gives rise to my theory that Jared Leto can only touch true greatness when he's next to Dwight Yoakam.

That's probably true for a lot of people honestly.

I really enjoyed it all the three times I've read it.

I love Part 1 and Part 2. A fantastic adaptation. Especially Part 1.

It really is insane that working for ICE is a job people choose to have.

Like people legit wake up, and get ready to go to work at the Kidnapping Industrial Complex like it ain’t nothing.

Since Pennywise's true form is close to a giant spider, does that mean he's a kaiju?

Spoiler alert: Tess became a dog person, as did I.

"She was not a dog person. She was not a cat person, fish person, or horse person. On bad days, she was barely a people person. She ate meat, wore leather, and secretly coveted her mother's old mink." -- CHARM CITY, Laura Lippman

Still can’t find a direct transfer of the teaser trailer they made for this film. But it was damn great.
