High profile demonstrations clowning on the enemy to make them look weak and stupid serve both of these possibilities. If elections matter, it's a high-profile campaign event for the antifascists (note: not necessarily for the Dems). If they don't, it erodes their image of being Da Law Here.

I'm not really involved in activism besides posting, but it seems to me that until we Know For Sure whether elections will be worth anything in 2026, we need to play like Schrödinger's cat and assume both possibilities when planning: will it help if elections matter, and also if they don't?

Either elections still matter and we've got about a year of Trump steadily making himself more and more hated before a Dem wave causes a deadlock between Congress and the WH, or they don't and we're in the long game. Either way, undermining their popular legitimacy is step 1.
