The Nazis and their ideologues like Julius Evola were pedophiles that were into the anime of their time, occult reimaginings of some glorious aryan past that never was
srirachachau.bsky.social
It’s funny how the old media depiction of Nazis was always that they’re evil but dignified gentleman and now they’re openly just like “Hello. I’m the Anime Pedophile”

Every punk band got that one bassist who looks like the first zombie in NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
The guy, kind of a long angular face and beak of a nose and raggedy teeth
cartermoon.bsky.social
Yeah I think what’s fascinating about right now is how all the people you kind of always knew would turn Nazi are, but actually the majority of society is pretty clearly having a social immunity response that’s pretty heartwarming to witness if you take a step back and think about it.

It feels like the political overton window has shifted far to the Right because the wealth class controls our media and owns our politicians.

Meanwhile, the vast, vast majority of people belong to what would now be portrayed as “the extreme Left.”

It’s a perception game and narrative control.

The vast majority of people aren’t ruthless psychopaths but most people are capable of this kind of casual cruelty in the right circumstances and that’s hard to live with

Rolex subreddit post:

My uncle has Alzheimer's and is often forgetful of his possessions. One of them is a Rolex Submariner. Would I be justified in taking and caring for it as my own instead of having it left neglected and forgotten in his jewelry box? Thanks.

George W Bush and his party were ravenous war criminals and ardent reactionaries. They were not Nazis. *these guys* are Nazis
merovingians.bsky.social
again, the problem with rhetorical maximalism (all Republicans since Barry fucking Goldwater were Nazis) is that you end up believing it and saying absolutely unhinged shit thinking it's normal

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

Sure yeah I hear that, but I also think if it’s not directly happening outside of the detention centers it even more just becomes a performance without a target and abstracted away from the central horror of what’s being done to people by ICE

as charming and whimsical as some will view this, it bears noting that absurdity—not militancy or might—are what people have chosen to repeat from the portland standoffs against ICE.

why is that?

what purpose does this serve?

The Portland Frog army has now infiltrated Tulsa, OK and they’ve made an unlikely alliance with the T-Rex infantry and Sharks on Hoverboards mercenary forces.

This is truly terrifying.

This is what I've had the privilege to watch happening in Chicago:

A genuine social moment, so new and spontaneous (though not without antecedents and seedbeds) it doesn't even yet have a theory or "ideology." Just: people doing....
cartermoon.bsky.social
I hate to be a killjoy but like the inflatable costumes at ICE protests do feel like they’re starting to distract from the reality that human beings are being brutally detained and kept in completely barbaric conditions. I don’t think it’s wrong to have some levity at these things but cmon

They're talking about killing leftist activists. They're talking about murdering people organizing in defense of immigrant communities, doing mutual aid work, and protesting their violence. They are talking about murdering people like me and my friends. We must do more than acknowledge it's fascism.

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

Because liberals tend not to directly insult conservatives on account of their humane and inclusive worldview so right wingers have to look back further for insults to GOP voters. Meanwhile this weekend every major Republican congressman said I hate America.
daveweigel.bsky.social
I'm generalizing, but why do conservatives remember political irritations for so much longer than liberals?

It's been 17 years since Obama said some voters "cling to their guns, to their religion" and I heard a senator denounce that last month.

Obvious theory: Media ecosystem puts it on repeat
