"Protests are not helpful, actually."

In most cases is just something that libs, feds, and psyops say.
I don't know what people expect to happen. It's going to take years to undo the damage Trump has caused. We aren't going to see change immediately. It's not like we're marching to the capitol and trying to lynch politicians like they did on Jan 6th.
Protests are performative. But that's like... The whole idea. People are coming out in force to disprove the narrative of the "silent majority". It draws attention to the problem. It makes it impossible for people to ignore.
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.

Imho it is pretty foolish to look at a protest two days later and say "well that did nothing." We have yet to see what it accomplished, and posts like this only serve to demoralize

It was a massive showing of solidarity, a morale booster, and community builder. In a year of chaos and horrors, it was badly needed and I wouldn’t discount it.

Me telling my partner that I want to go down on them even though they haven't shaved:
"If you are suffering as much as I am, please, tell me."
"I can't... We can't. It's just not possible."

Could've gone so fucking hard with the correct background and portrayal.

Padme as a crown princess and Anakin as a former slave that's in the process of becoming a priest?

Yes. Okay? Yes.

The dialogue wasn't doomed from the start. I can see what Lucas was going for, but he was trying to force a doomed romance subplot into a Science Fantasy movie.

Just because it fits in the square hole, doesn't mean it belongs there.

The dialogue between Padme and Anakin in Attack of the Clones (Episode 2) COULD HAVE WORKED...
But only if it was a cheesey, softcore, medieval romantasy... And featured actors with on stage chemistry.

In Star Wars with Portman and Christianson, it just felt clunky and out of place.

Ideal conditions for starting your passion project will never come. You will never feel skilled enough to make it. There will never be a moment where you stop being scared to start. Do it anyway. Do it badly. Do it scared. Just make that thing that’s clawing at the door of your soul; It wants out.
