The dialogue wasn't doomed from the start. I can see what Lucas was going for, but he was trying to force a doomed romance subplot into a Science Fantasy movie.

The dialogue between Padme and Anakin in Attack of the Clones (Episode 2) COULD HAVE WORKED...
But only if it was a cheesey, softcore, medieval romantasy... And featured actors with on stage chemistry.

In Star Wars with Portman and Christianson, it just felt clunky and out of place.

I'm disabled and have a PCA that helps with shit occasionally. Well he picks me up today and we're chatting and I ask how he's doing and he says, "I'm alright. I have a cold, but other than that I'm good... Don't worry, I won't breathe on you!" 😑
