I'll bet on him playing in garbage time, because him being ready to play but WG holding him out because he hasn't practiced with the team would be the silliest reason
Per Willie Green, DeAndre Jordan probably will not play tonight
The Pelicans announce Yves Missi and Karlo Matkovic are out for this game.

Very good chance DeAndre Jordan starts
Windy's comments on the NBA pulling Rozier & Porter get at what I have been saying for years.

In some % of cases, the NBA has under the table suspensions that are sold as injuries or load mgmt. Now extrapolate from that the rarity of players getting in trouble for PEDs/gambling in NBA vs NFL/MLB
Ironically all those "first coach fired" bets are getting settled real quick
Damn Chauncey

Zion is bad at taking 2s outside of the restricted area, & I don't think he's ever going to get over the hump where it's worth it for him to take a bunch of those shots in lieu of a boost in 3s and especially team 3s.

The same has been true for Giannis and the same is going to be true for Amen.
No matter how you want to break down last night's game--blame Willie Green/Dickinson minutes/the bench...

Pels lost by 6 points & the 2 best players were both inefficient offensively (40 pts on 36 FGA & 14 FTA combined). If those 2 get to avg efficiency on the same volume the Pels win the game.

I understand Willie likes Zion+scrubs, but you can't have two rookies, Hawkins, no center, and Zion during a 19 point Grizzlies run
To maximize this roster they have to trade Reed, but if they trade Reed+Capela for a guard that leaves them in the same kind of 'very thin at guard' scenario from an injury risk perspective.
HOU was very negative in the Okogie mins, Reed mins, & the Okogie+Reed mins.

They were + everywhere else. So you can see the direct effect of FVV injury, & the dilemma they're in with Eason/Reed. If Eason goes out for a guard, Okogie plays more.

touche, but sustainable for at least 3 quarters

and equally as sustainable long term as OKC shooting 75% on 16+ foot 2P jumpers
Chat, how sustainable is 25% opponent 3FG%?
If they're able to hold a team like OKC to 102 per 48 on 54% true shooting, they can win with this offense until they trade for point guard help

Post trade deadline the Pelicans will most likely have only 5-6 games against tanking teams out of 29.

The idea that they're going to win extra down the stretch because they won't be tanking and other teams will be doesn't hold a lot of water.
Council, Springer, and Davis were not born in the DMV though, and Hawkins was.
Jordan Hawkins vs a bunch of guys who will not be on a full time roster this NBA season.

Committing $7M one full year in advance is a tough justification
It makes him less easy to trade. The Pels are in a death spiral right now, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.

The most positive spin is the decision-makers are limited in the amount they can spend, and thus are limited in some respect in the amount of damage they can do.
If this makes Hawkins easier to trade, great.
The New Orleans Pelicans picked up the 2026-27 rookie scale team options for Jordan Hawkins and Yves Missi, a league source told @spotrac.com.

This is the fourth-year option for Hawkins and the third-year option for Missi.

3. AI severely damages the incentive to think critically among college students at the time in their life when they most need to develop critical thinking. Rapid proliferation of AI tools is outputting a generation of professionals who definitively will not reach their potential as a result.
There are basically only two positions in the debate about AI.
1. I’ve barely invested any time in learning how to use it effectively. AI sucks.
2. I’ve invested in learning how to use this tool. Holy cow, it’s transformational.

Position #1 has lower barriers to entry.
Kon Knueppel has four free throw attempts in 96 preseason minutes. It doesn't matter how good of a shooter he is (only 21/63 from the NBA 3 pt line in SL/preseason)--1.5 FTA/36 simply is not going to get it done in terms of making him worth the #4 pick.
Thybulle is making $11M this year and is a UFA next year. He has shot 36% from 3 over the last three years on similar /100 volume to K Murray and much greater /100 volume than D Daniels.

What is gained in terms of playoff equity by paying $28M for a defensive wing who is a spacer on offense?
In my opinion, make sure a player will be guarded on offense in the playoffs before paying him $140 million dollars.

I won't pretend to know how these players rank in fantasy basketball, but... I think J-Dub is a safe bet to put up similar numbers to last year and Franz has the most upside for this season.
