One of the many things I value about our music director is that while we are rightly known for excellent music, Music Director is very firm that it is not a performance & has formed the choir to back off when the congregation really gets into singing; a real “they must increase; we must decrease.”

OK ok I know it’s not healthy or even in any way possible to have published rules around the precise amount of sadness—expressed in X approved manners—you are allowed to have when a parent dies, given your age Y at their death + years Z since the death happened + N° of closeness BUT ISN’T IT?
