i feel like this story is particularly important right now, because protein-maxxing is *so* in vogue. before working on this, i believed i was woefully protein deficient

it turns out that's just a myth that has been floating around for decades—the average american gets more than enough protein!!

One trick I think useful is to suggest he define, say, 4^3 not as 4 x 4 x 4, but as 1 x 4 x 4 x 4. Of course the two expressions amount to the same thing. But if you get into the habit of including the 1, it becomes obvious why 4^0 is just one. 2/

My approach to the washer/dryer vs the microwave are opposite. Bedclothes get the BEDDING settings, wash and dry. No clue what that means; must apply it anyway. But the Popcorn button? Baked Potato button? [Specific meal i'm reheating] button? Don't care. "+30 sec x N; start." I barely use DEFROST.
