A still from the black-and-white Disney animation, "Danse Macabre," of skeletons holding hands and dancing in a circle.
One of my favorite things about my current 19th century murder hyperfixation is that the moral of the story is Rich People Are The Worst And We Should Be Mean To Them.

I was, for a time, tempted to change my name to Eglantine, and I still believe I could pull it off.

I have now created a separate account for #PhantomsFriday, imaginatively calling it @phantomsfriday.bsky.social
I'm not sure why I've done this, it just seemed right to have all those Friday posts on ghostly books, art, poems, #folklore, haunted locations etc in one place. Please join the feed!
Illustration by Barry Wilkinson of a weird, blurry figure of a man, hands raised and apparently crying out. In the background a man in a doorway is reacting with shock at the sight of it.
Pretty much every time I do public speaking. I first noticed it when I acted in school plays, but eventually noticed that it also happens during other kinds of presentations and performances as well. I can remember reading from notes slightly better than anything said/recited purely from memory.

did you know that right now, we're only a partial skeleton? we're not fully funded, and so we're missing some critical bones.

this is truth

and sadly not sustainable

An old looking skull lays on a cement path covered lightly in brown leaves.
A gently ominous, grey reprieve from the blue skies and sunshine that I will be forced to endure here today
I am trying to go walking more and taking photos has been good motivation. I've moved on to the Proper Camera rather than the smartphone one on days when it isn't raining, but I still take phonecam photos on drizzly days.

These might even be gloomy enough for @braegrosz.com
A rusted attempt at a half-hearted pylon holds up power wires in the foreground, stretching from the green grass to the grey sky in the left half of the frame. To the right and in the background, trees shrink away. A storm threatens, the pylon is singing to the lightning. A bright green paddock grows lush grass in the lower half of the frame. In the distance, a row of trees separates the friendly grass from the menacing grey sky. Power lines cross from a distant pylon to the top of the frame, and to the left is the suggestion of a road. You should jump the fence between the grass and the concrete if you want to chase the lightning. Trees still half bare from winter reach upwards to an unforgiving sky. The clouds are grey and ponderous. The two tallest trees bookend a thinning of the clouds, a slight shimmer that holds the hope of sunlight. Trees and grass to the right and the river on the left travel towards a horizon where a sliver of sunset sneaks through the dense clouds. The image is mostly sky: grey, foreboding, heavy, yet beautiful.

My sister and I borrowed this movie from the library sooo much, when we were kids.
The late '70s was a deeply weird time at Disney. Need proof? Let's dive into Escape to Witch Mountain, following two cute kids with psychic powers running away from a scheming businessman. Hijinks ensue.

Yep. I recently discovered that I like apricots now, though as a kid, I disliked everything I ever tried with apricots.
My mom loved all olives as a kid. I liked black olives as a kid but not green olives; now I love all olives.
