why are we speedrunning cyberpunk?
this guy really is impressive in his dedication to misdirection

if anyone you know mentions Democrats in the same breath as the shutdown, ask them which party has the majority in the house and senate as well as the presidency right now. Never forget which side is indeed worse.

Consort Radahn fight sucks and isn’t fun
calling it blatant is blatant
The Trump administration is going to restrict the number of refugees it admits into the US next year to the token level of just 7,500 – and those spots will mostly be filled by white South Africans.
US will limit number of refugees and give priority to white South Africans

NEW: ICE is planning to build a shadow deportation network in Texas. A proposal outlines a 24/7 transport operation run by armed contractors—turning Texas into the logistical backbone of an industrialized deportation machine.

“believe in that biology” is an intensely incoherent statement
My logic is simple. Bear > Man. You’re not Jūzō Fujimaki, get a fucking grip dude
If you want to talk about skull calipers and crashing helicopters in Islamabad, then confer with your Navy Seal friend

This shit always cracks me up. Leave it to a Navy Seal to completely ignore reality to talk about physical fitness and hand-to-hand combat.

Folks—buy bear mace. You know why it exists? Because guns don’t work on some bears. But bear mace does!

Be serious about serious things, please.

I can’t imagine hating the concept of “women” to this degree, much less the actual person
they like economic activists

they’re trying to differentiate economics and academics, clearly

pick yer snark
So why does the BBC label the academic and economist Faiza Shaheen an "activist" but refuse to do the same for the former academic, turned anti-migrant activist Matt Goodwin?
“Probably!”

RIP Jessica Walters
and yet I will die alone
I just can't imagine my bf sending me a note like this, it's a really weird thing to say. It's dressed up as a joke but he can't hide the fact that he's bitter that his wife who was meant to just trundle behind him being worshipful has a gig.
Let me grind my petty axe

I think what pieces like this show is that, foundationally most of these guys don't even have a *positive* vision of conservative masculinity for themselves, and the version they're adopting clearly isn't fulfulling them either. It's just grievance and resentment all the way down
“Could dating be a way to help forge an understanding — of value systems, of experiences that drive beliefs — that could start to bridge the dissonance?”

Sure, if our major political disagreements were the percentage of oil industry subsidies and not whether people have human rights. Anachronistic.
What the fuck are we even doing? It’s shameful. I’ve never been proud to be an American but it gets more embarrassing by the day.
Media isn’t “supposed” to openly condescend the median voter, but that’s impossible after a successful war on education spanning two generations. Besides which, pundits are concerned with punditry and hashing out wonky policy details, not with the ostensible social function of critique. It’s stupid!
Maaaaan, this. So much this. Every time there's any kind of actual in-depth survey we find that the American people are *abysmally* ignorant about even the most basic political facts, but the pundit class just immediately forgets & proceeds with political analysis based on subtle policy differences.
Feels like so many of our convos are revolving about how voters respond to what politicians are doing, or what parties’ positions on issues are, without much actual empirical sense of what they actually know about those topics.

“scandal revealed him to be not a threat to the system, but an essential component: another in a long line of power-hungry husks that sap what little hope, passion and belief the young and the marginalized have so bravely maintained and channel it into a meaningless project of self-aggrandizement.”
Wow. Extremely moving piece by a ski instructor in Maine.

Platner is only a small part of it. I've never seen someone so viscerally distill how betrayed we've all felt by our "leaders" over these past few years.

With hope in desperately short supply, we don't need any more fecklessness.
