Two 3d printed tiktaalik skulls. On the left, smaller, white colored, mouth closed, facing camera. On the right, larger, tan colored, mouth propped open with a stick, facing right-ish. A 3d printed model for demonstrating the cranial kinesis (movement) of a hawk skull, with different parts in different colors. A musk deer (a deer-like animal with large upper fangs) skull, tan colored, facing left. Two 3d printed Lined Earwig designs. The earwig is an insect with a reddish head and thorax, a dark abdomen with pincers on the end, tan legs and a pair of tan stripes down the back. Each earwig has a 1-inch (2.5cm) split ring though the abdomen. The left design is facing upish, the right design is facing down. In between them is a US penny for scale.

#PaleoMori day 14!! Drew one of these last year and I knew I improved at digital art a lot but HOLY SHIT what a difference. In case it wasn't obvious, I based the coloration and patterning on the Walking With Dinosaurs interpretation.
Digital sketch of a blue-green and tan, countershaded Placerias on a plain brown background.

WIP of day fourteen of #invertober
Bobbit Worm

Grief support group did a number on me yesterday, and I didn't manage to finish this one. But I'll try and refine it once I have the energy.
(also, once again, oil pastels be stinky!)

#invertober2025
unfinished drawing of a worm. It has five tentacle-antennae thingies and four pincers on its head. It is very long, curling all over the page, and the segmented body has an iridescent sheen.

#paleoctober2025 day 15 : Plectronoceras !

Cephalopods were late bloomers compared to other major mollusk classes, only becoming really abundant during the Ordovician. Plectronoceras here is the oldest cephalopod, dating back to the Cambrian, and its anatomy has been much debated.
A drawing of Plectronoceras, the oldest cephalopod known. Due to conflicts of interpretation of its soft parts, the head is reconstructed as the typical cephalopod head. Fossil fragments of Plectronoceras shell, showing the individual chambers.

Couldn't help myself but to draw the astonishing sexual dimorphism of this buddy. I'm not even that into #butterflies, but I fully get why ppl go crazy for them! #bugsky

Halfway through #invertober2025🥹 behold: the magnificent Queen Alexandra's birdwing, in its male and female morphologies #SciArt
A vectorial digital drawing of Ornithoptera alexandrae, or Queen Alexandra's Birdwing butterfly, set against a pale blue background. The image is a split representation showing the dramatic sexual dimorphism of the species.
The left half (male) features a wing that is brilliant teal, turquoise, and black, with iridescent markings.
The right half (female) features a wing that is much larger, colored a solid dark brown/black with large, irregular patches of creamy white and subtle yellow markings.
The butterfly's central body (thorax and abdomen) is also split, showing the distinct coloration difference between the sexes. The male symbol is under the male side and the female symbol is under the female side. The text "invertobter2025 - Day 15" is in the bottom right corner.

You know what tool existed when I was in high school that no one ever taught me how to use? Excel. A thing I use all the time now, mostly self-taught, existed in the late 1990s and no one was upending the curriculum to make sure I knew how to use it.

Happy 16th #NationalFossilDay!

Fossils connect us to the lands we live on and the ecosystems we’re a part of. They show us that everything around us is here because of a 4.5 billion year story that’s still ongoing. I just think that’s magical. ☮️ ❤️ 🦕 🦣
