I don’t plan to use this account for anything remotely council-related but better to err on the side of caution.

BREAKING: The SNP is set to lead the first parliamentary debate on digital ID against the Labour Government’s mandatory plan tomorrow.

Story to follow.

Voters’ anger is largely focused on asylum, and perhaps on low-skilled immigration.

The government response seems to be focused on making sure no high-skilled immigrant will ever pick the UK in future, and the ones currently here will rapidly rethink their decision.

This will not end well.
Haven’t read the report yet but this looks to me like another example of adding yet more makework to the immigration process for unclear reasons other than possibly getting mentioned in Politico Playbook.
Just Zubir Ahmed churning out more of that Joani Reid-style anti-refugee nonsense while also vaguely insulting a few people who have the temerity to challenge him on it.
Absolutely stomach-churning stuff from my Labour MP on the other place. What they think they're playing at I don't know but it's utterly disgusting.

I know some cis people probably think we never stop banging on but if you'd paid more attention to the horrifically vile stuff journalists have been saying in newspapers about trans people for the past 10 years, you'd probably be less shocked they're writing about mass deportations today.
I can't imagine what my life would have been like without my Erasmus year (2009-10). I still have friends who I met at that time, not just where I went but across Europe. It's a travesty that the UK government took Scottish students out of it.
Sofia Corradi, founder of the Erasmus program, passes away at 91. Known as 'Mamma Erasmus,' she viewed the program, which has sent approximately 16 million students to study abroad through Europe, as her 'personal pacifist mission.'
Bless her - an inspirational lady.
The difference in coverage the Scottish papers are giving to the Green and Lib Dem conferences this weekend is pretty striking.

Whatever you think of the SNP in Glasgow, some remarks from Scottish Labour MPs who should know better, have been embarrassing.
This today, incorrectly claiming SNP housing policies have any impact on asylum cases which is reserved to Westminster and dealt with by Home Office contractors, is mince.

The Court of Appeal made the ruling as it dismissed a Home Office appeal

You can make a report to Police Scotland on their website or by calling 101, and learn more about reporting at www.hatecrimeglasgow.org. Scotland is no place for hate.

I’m proud to work with partners who work tirelessly to build communities where everyone feels safe and where prejudice is condemned, and it’s down to all of us to challenge prejudice and hatred where we see it, and encourage people to report hate crimes they’ve experienced.

Unfortunately I also hear all too often from people who’ve faced prejudice and hatred based on something as simple as who they are, who they love, or where they happen to have been born.

A few thoughts as we reach the end of Hate Crime Awareness Week. I have the privilege of representing one of the most diverse constituencies in Scotland, and see every day the strength, joy, and beauty our diversity brings.
Whether Farage becomes PM or not doesn’t really feel like it matters any more. He’s won the narrative, his policies are being implemented. This isn’t good for Britain and it’s certainly not good for Scotland, and the only escape hatch from this awful xenophobic mess is independence.
My American partner works in a specialist role for a multinational, one of three globally.

Her visa is in renewal. Her father died this week. She can't go back until the Home Office "computer says yes". Her route to ILR has now been restarted to begin at zero of ten years, after years here already.
Oh yes disincentivise saving, that’ll end well
The Chancellor opened the door to potential tax hikes on pensions, estates and capital gains by saying she wanted those with the “broadest shoulders” to pay their “fair share”, but ruled out a new standalone wealth tax

We're investing £768 million in our affordable housing supply programme this year alone, and have delivered 136,700 affordable homes since 2007: 47% more than England and 73% more than Wales. As Westminster continues its race to the right, the SNP will continue improving lives and communities.

Here in Scotland, our Housing Emergency Action Plan, backed by £4.9 billion, is delivering 36,000 affordable homes, and bringing thousands of empty homes back into use. This week we’ve also learned Scotland has the UK’s youngest first-time buyers. That’s your SNP Government delivering for you.

🏘️ A tale of two governments: Labour now plans to slash the affordable housing target in London from 35% to 20%, while fewer than 4000 new homes have been completed there in the first hald of this year – well short of the annual target of 88,000.
