Introductory Post: I’m Hirst, the guy in the shirt there. I like weird old games (especially imports) and arcades, based in the UK and (slowly) doing videos about games and that. Promise. If you want to hear dumb opinions, please follow, reposts appreciated as it’s quiet on here! Nice people only.

Disregard that, I made this image header using AI. Nobody will ever know!
Shite AI image of a man playing games but done in pen manually because AI stinks

With Generative AI being the hot topic of late, I’d like to make clear my commitment - I won’t ever use it for writing, imagery, music or anything else to do with BleedingCart. I would rather my logo be the one I knocked up in a 25 year old version of Paint Shop Pro than anything AI could produce.

Every so often I go to a downmarket seaside arcade that has plush toys of NFT apes in a crane machine, which is basically death row for failed fads.

I’ve probably put over 100 hours into fiercely competitive multiplayer on Smash Court because of pesky @seanseanson.bsky.social and his big Namco video. Even ended up getting the official strategy guide.

I learned about this game on the @seanseanson.bsky.social video about every Namco PS1 game and I knew I had to pick it up because look at this art. As Sean would say, you truly do love to see it
Smash court ps1 box art, look there’s a hummingbird and some fish in the air and it looks like a city pop album cover

Beast Wrestler/Beast Warriors on the Mega Drive. Dreadful monster wrestling game with awful music but has such a weird atmosphere that you want to keep seeing what monster opponent is next, so ended up finishing it.

What's the worst game you finished/rolled credits on?

(games media folks, it can't be something you were assigned to review; this has to be something you subjected yourself to of your own free will)

Newgrounds has a very helpful guide for detecting AI audio over at www.newgrounds.com/wiki/help-in... for anyone interested in catching AI-generated music. Don't rely on any service that uses AI for detection, that's just using slop to find slop and you'll get false positives/missed catches.

I’ll never forgive them for removing the burp/fart button, last seen in GTA2.

My British childhood consisted of eating Campbells Meatballs and playing on the Mega Drive, the only traumatic thing that ever happened was that TV thing warning what to do in the event of a gas leak where somebody goes to turn on a light switch and the man shouts “no”.

Got the Limited Edition version of Shin Sakura Wars on PS4 on a whim as I like the export version and it has a 6 CD soundtrack and a presumably small art book. Bought cheaply with no research expecting something the size of a sheet of paper to turn up, then this suitcase-sized parcel arrived. Nice!

Even the shittiest pencil drawings of Mr Bean are multiples better than the best AI work.

Anywhere that hosts creative work should identify and reject generative AI like this. Good job!

25 years in, we are NOT allowing genAI music onto OC ReMix, full stop.

We're 100% against genAI music and are a community geared toward authentic creativity and artistic development. You don't get that by doing text prompts.

Recent comment: "This A.I. music is as fake as 🏈 🦇."

In this case, this is human-made. (3 of our judges panel are also involved as collaborators on it: jnWake, pixelseph, and paradiddlesjosh.)

We explicitly do NOT accept any music made with generative A.I. There are tools out there that help identify genAI music. If music involving genAI is ever unknowingly let on, it will be removed if it's discovered.

GAME in Sports Direct, occasionally useful for something other than being a place where kids thud footballs off the floor endlessly near some dead stock.

I used to automatically block posts containing the clown emoji on Twitter, nobody posting anything good would use it.

Make sure to get in some crazy little-known game facts. Super Mario Bros 2 is Doki Doki Panic, Atari E.T. carts in the landfill, that kind of thing. Stuff we’ve never heard before. Also make sure to describe everything that didn’t ultimately get released as “banned” because that’s what that means.

Yeah they were about 70% sized pump-action shotguns from memory, reloaded off the lever. Was a 3-player deluxe cabinet with a big rear projection display, bet it’s incredible with all three going at once! I only went on it once because it was super expensive, £1 a go.

I played the arcade version in Skegness Pier, but before you immediately set off I can confirm it hasn’t been there for roughly 20 years. Only place I ever saw it too.

Vol 1 has Big Tournament Golf (Neo Turf Masters) which was probably the main reason I ultimately dropped out of Uni as I used to play it under the table during lectures. Unlocked all the clubs and won all the trophies, so I think it was worth it.

The “Take your Sega for a Mega Drive” ad slogan is burned into my brain, even though I remember the game being fairly middling and nothing to write home about.

I was poached to write paid magazine articles (not gaming sadly!) off the back of posting stuff on forums. I would encourage anyone who thinks they can write stuff to put it out whatever method they can, especially things that aren’t covered very well already. Nothing to lose!

For anyone lamenting how some goon was able to get a publishing deal - put together your own book! Create a solid concept, do some planning, create a design, and pitch it! Most publishers don't have open pitch seasons. They want to see someone that can see a full project to completion.

In the days to come, this will become a cautionary tale about trusting your brand with people who have said stupid things and may well go on to say even more stupid things.
