For the last 10+ years Veterinary practices in the UK have been targeted for acquisition by investment firms, often US based. This is the result, enabled by 14 years of Tory government. This what you get with free-market economics. You will be bled dry by unfettered capitalism.

So many vets' practices have been taken over by a small number of big chains backed by venture capital, who just see it as a money making business. It makes things very difficult for independent practices that are trying to do the right thing by their customers and their pets.

So, when Tommy shouts that “only juries can be done for contempt,” he’s either lying or doesn’t understand the law.

The journalist was right - and careful - because speaking recklessly from outside court can ruin a trial.

Tommy’s own ally, Ezra Levant, was banned from posting from court for doing exactly this - giving his own commentary on witness credibility and guilt.

That’s literally what “contempt of court” means.

Under the UK Contempt of Court Act 1981, anyone - journalists, editors, or even social media users - can be prosecuted if their commentary risks influencing an active trial.

That means reporters can share basic facts from open court, but not opinion, speculation, or analysis until it’s over.

Cross-border violence has flared since Kabul was rocked last week by explosions blamed on Pakistan, which in turn accuses Afghanistan of harbouring militant groups that carry out attacks on its territory.
