Not commenting on what those terms "really mean", just on the way many people unfortunately invoke and practice them! I think it has something to do with how lots of us yearn for non-monogamy to feel as clearly laid out as cisheteronormative monogamy is, because choosing your own adventure is scary!

The idea of "hierarchal polyamory" as human relationship beurocratization with veto power / titles and the idea of "relationship anarchy" as arbitrarily pretending all relationships are identical regardless of other context are both stupid ways to go about relationships.

I can be inflammatory with my positions, but one thing I hold to is that no matter who you are or where you live you deserve complete access to the healthcare you need as a human right. Regardless of identity, capitalists are the enemy of this basic tenant of human flourishing—act accordingly.

For most of our history the poor among us (most of us) just had to grind (mostly sex work) for big swaths of our lives to get our most basic healthcare needs met, if we were able to at all. Meanwhile in the present, many countries we considered “developing” have started to lap us on every level.

I say this as a transsexual who has been lucky enough to get surgeries and HRT over the last decade covered free under Oregon’s relatively fantastic public option because I’m low income. One of the few plans in the country that hints on what Medicare for All could be!

Thinking about this again today because it’s so vile in this given moment when one of the things most under attack is trans healthcare being covered under public insurance—the very rich will always be able to get their surgeries and easily move abroad if things get too hot, but the poor sure won’t!

The thing about a rich trans woman calling trans healthcare bourgeois and not possible under communism is not only that it’s completely ignorant of historical / present conditions, but that it’s fundamentally a claim that only the rich deserve guaranteed access to healthcare—literally “I got mine”

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

The Fraternal Order of Police is on the side of MAGA and against the people they are supposed to be "policing." I think this says a lot to the people who insist local police are going to be "resistance."
