This is a good policy for pretty much every billionaire big idea.
- Colonize asteroids or other planets? Great, but the first job for resources is to fix climate on Earth
- Massive power consumption for AI Data centers? Great, but first major task is solving sustainability

The initial colonist launch is cheap. Henceforth every resupply mission should face an adverse impact to home planet analysis. You shouldn’t be allowed to create massive energy deficit or emissions on earth for shit on mars.

Here's the key thing about distrust: it can be motivated both by a populist diagnosis leading to reactionary authoritarianism AS WELL AS an emancipatory, left-coded reformism or radical critique.

Everyone can distrust democracy for their own ENTIRELY DISTINCT & FUNDAMENTALLY INCOMPATIBLE reasons.

Roberts’ is so close to his lifelong goal of gutting the Voting Rights Act that he’s going to ignore his own precedent.

We live in interesting times, where every major GOP figure is actively trying to roll back the Civil War expansion of the franchise to non-property holding, non-white people.

Roberts is saying that the court's own precedent from a couple of years ago, where it ruled that Alabama had to draw racial fair maps, doesn't apply to this (identical) case, essentially because the Alabama case was poorly argued.
It's a terrible argument, but the hill Roberts is gonna die on.

The fight here with Gorsuch and Kav vs Nelson is whether the "use" of race automatically means "discrimination" on the basis of race.

That's interesting to me, because it's basically the white folks telling on themselves. They cannot see a "use" of race that isn't synonymous with discrimination.

I'd say "WHEN WHITE FOLKS STOP INTENTIONALLY USING RACE TO DECREASE BLACK VOTING POWER" but he thinks white people doing that is cool.

Standing up an actual agency for immigration and customs as alternative to ICE should be a priority for any Democrat elected to federal office.

Not mine—I was let go during the pandemic. At 55, after more than 30 years with the same company. The same year they collected $6M in PPP money & let go 5 employees over 40. I’m much happier now!
