like basically everyone who works in software I embody this tweet and do not under any circumstances want to talk to my computer
Tweet from @PPathole

Tech enthusiasts: My entire house is smart.

Tech workers: The only piece of technology in my house is a printer and I keep a gun next to it so I can shoot it if it makes a noise I don’t recognize.

can't believe this design is almost a year old
a black and white typography edit that reads "dykes make the day brighter" in all caps. to the right of the text is a pair of linked carabiners. they have two charms on them embossed with the transgender symbol and two interlocking female symbols. there is also a heart shaped lock. the entire image is textured to look photocopied.

While we're all calling detentions of US citizens bc racist ICE goons think Latinos must be undocumented "Kavanaugh stops," I hereby propose we start calling the arrests of US citizens who get assaulted by ICE while just standing there "Ghostbusters," after the clarinetist who was charged.
Here's how ProPublica categorizes the 170 US citizens ICE has kidnapped. 50 Kavanaugh stops and 120 cases where ICE claimed they were assaulted, usually (IMO) after assaulting the person in question.

Remember that 2 of the electeds--Ras Baraka and Brad Lander--were arrested DURING their election.
We reviewed more than 170 cases overall, which we sorted into two categories.

The first is Americans who were held because agents questioned their citizenship. We found more than 50 such cases. The second category is Americans arrested by immigration agents after being accused of assaulting or impeding officers at protests or during immigration arrests of others. In that category, we tallied about 130 Americans, including more than a dozen elected officials. In many of these cases, the government never charged these individuals or the cases were dismissed.

Bondi on Fox:
"People protesting immigration enforcement raids were members of what she described as “organized crime” syndicates.

“They are no different than [notoriously violent El Salvadorean gang] MS-13,” she said.

can you imagine? The AG of the US equates peaceful protest w/ organized crime.

Update time:
Move was successful with no hiccups. Point A to Point B was great, and settling in at the new house with friends.
Only major downside: no Internet. Was SUPPOSED to be the weekend of us arriving, but that fell through.
Rescheduled today, but the fiber cable wasn't extended to our house..

No Democrat should vote to keep the government open unless ACA funding is restored for the millions of Americans at risk of losing health coverage next year.

Remember that this funding is on the chopping block because Trump and Republicans want to give the richest Americans a giant tax cut.

Big news here: the White House has backed down from shutting down I-5 this weekend following our reporting last night.

Like this for a random music recommendation.

Might be shoegaze, might be post-hardcore, might be some flavor of pop.
5. Stay - Leaving Time

Another heavy hitting non-shoegaze (although some elements shine through) rock band. I listen to the entire EP (Leaving Time) that this is part of chronically.

My rose garden is feeling a little artsy today. This is the "Maurice Utrillo," named after the French painter. FUN FACT: A section of my garden is devoted to roses named after artists.

Earlier this year, the U.S. also recorded its first measles deaths in a decade: two children in Texas and an adult in New Mexico. All were unvaccinated. For the past 25 years, measles has been considered eliminated in the U.S. because it has not continuously spread over a year-long period.

66% percent of cases are in children and young adults 19 years and younger, and 92% of case-patients are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccine status. 4% of patients have had just one dose of measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine, and 4% have had two doses.

We are now at the point where as a record number of people in the U.S. are sickened with measles, researchers are resurrecting the search for something long-deemed redundant: treatments for the viral disease DUE TO LOW VACCINATION RATES.

We are at risk of losing our elimination status.

Measles has not been endemic, or continuously present, in the United States since 2000. With vaccination rates dropping for MMR shots as well as for other childhood vaccines, outbreaks of preventable infectious diseases are increasing. This should NOT be happening.

Since we can’t rely on the HHS, CDC, or FDA to say it, I will:

MAKE SURE YOU ARE VACCINATED AGAINST MEASLES. GET YOUR MMR.

Measles cases have reached their HIGHEST point since the disease WAS ELIMINATED from the United States in 2000. We are at the tipping point for the return of ENDEMIC measles.
