Made a dinner (non-aesthetically pleasing) that is a barbecue chipotle chilli with cannellini beans with two halved potatoes coated in oil and salt and roasted in the oven, topped with grated cheese and sour cream and realised what I’ve done is make jacket potatoes with baked beans and cheese

Picked this year's scotch bonnet and had a cautious nibble on the end of one to check the flavour. It was delicious, sweet and fruity like a good scotch bonnet... but barely had any heat. I shrugged and prepped the batch because they'd still be good for the project I had in mind.

This was more from the angle that in 1973 there was a small number of companies that accounted for a massively outsized chunk of the economy, and the same today with a smaller number being worth a bigger chunk.

Correct, I have talked about this a lot over the last 6 months, and mentioned every point you said, I’m only talking about this now like this because I think the 1973 crash and the fact it took the UK to 1987 to recover and the US until 1993 to recover is an interesting comparison more so than 2008

(That x10 is the *at least* number) when the market crashed in 1973 the “nifty 50” accounted for 60% of the value of the S&P 500, the seven big AI companies today are about the same value. Nvidia on itsaccounts for 8%

Saw a video comparing the AI bubble to the Nifty 50 stock crash of 1973, and it feels like the closest parallel, certainly moreso than the dotcom bubble. In 1973 it turned out the top 50 stocks were overvalued by x10 and a combination of the oil crisis and the Nixon Shock made the market crash
