Born in 1880 in Danville, Quebec, he was an early innovator in Hollywood who ran Keystone Studios. He gave many acting icons their start in films including Marie Dressler, Charlie Chaplin and Bing Crosby.
He earned an Academy Award in 1938.

I just saw some travel company promotion trying to get Canadian travellers to fly down to New York for some sports event or other. Have they lost their goddamn minds? Leaving aside the tourism boycott, WHY would I be trying to do that when the air traffic controllers are sending up the alarm?
