The Alaska Native village of Kipnuk was due to receive a $20M grant from the EPA that they were going to use for flood protection.

It was labelled “wasteful DEI spending” and canceled.

Everytime I think I have the bare minimum I go to do the thing I want and I discover I forgot to grab it or need to buy it!
This time plastic gloves and a thermometer. So I had to handle raw chicken bare handed and I have to cook it extra long to be sure its fully cooked💀

I finally got access to my PC again so will be working on comms again. But I'm still pretty busy so things will be slow.

There was a typhoon that hit western Alaska and has hit a lot of rural and indigenous communities to where whole houses were floated away. There’s a disaster relief fund available to help those that were affected by it where you can share and or donate

If you didn’t know, Alaska has been hit by a massive storm, causing severe flooding. Many Indigenous villages have been completely wiped out, with some houses floating away with PEOPLE INSIDE THEM. Please keep posting to spread the info. They need help.

These are mostly indigenous communities in Alaska that have been slammed by the storm.

The local manager of a small airline fleet says he is the only one doing evacuations right now!

Defund FEMA and people are abandoned. Defund public media and no-one knows.

FYI, today is Indigenous Peoples Day.

This move has been such a headache, so many things need to be fixed right away in this unit. Like the stove just won't light at all, like theres no gas coming from it. The exhaust don't work and the nob falls off, and despite telling us multiple times that our rent and

Context for those who might not know, the building our previous unit was in, caught fire. Ours was mostly fine but had some water damage. Building won't be livable for awhile so we were relocated to a different building, so this unit wasn't by choice :'3

Only real nice thing so far is the neighbor has some cute cats they let out on their balcony. I wish I trusted my cat that much but she launches herself at squirrels X3
Fridge looks nice too, oven looked nice till I saw paint on the burner grates💀

The toilet is too close to the toilet roll, and the toilet roll is screwed in too high so we can't use it till half of the roll is used💀
I'm just finding little things here and there that are slightly worse than our previous unit thats making me dislike this one.

In our new place now, idk if I like it :c road is busier than I thought it be so its loud, north facing windows, feels smaller, seems a little less nice(though oven and fridge seem newer). Do kinda like the uncovered balcony more though.
Hopefully we can get it nice and cozy again regardless ^^

Should be the last day we're here at my parents, not looking forward to the moving part tomorrow though.
But so looking forward to have our own place again. I'm so so mad the fire took away half of my favorite month. I haven't been able to do any seasonal stuff :c
