Wondering what happened in January…. 🤔🤷

That’s crazy. I wonder what happened in January

Reflecting, yesterday had two (seriously) mild (hard acceleration passing but still giving well over 3 feet) "punishment passing" in 35 miles of urban/suburban ebiking. What was noticeable is that this was remarkable because I don't remember the last time I felt like I'd had one (let alone two).

Individual and organization (media, political, non-profit, ...) inability to think (and act) in systems-of-systems to account for "externalities" (positive and negative) and leverage #MultiSolving opportunities

And, in 2025, gold has having one of its best years.

Wonder what happened in January?

Seems that there is serial ICE lying with zero accountability for those lies and how they are being used for providing seeming justification for illegal (immoral, racist, …) detentions.

Well, Argentina is American, too, albeit the most southern Americans.

Whenever I see an asshole driving like 35 miles per hour on a narrow residential side street and punish-passing cyclists, I always run the plate ... and I am constantly amazed how our cops and political elite allow drivers like this to terrorize our neighborhoods: howsmydrivingny.nyc/tajpl3oz

1. Had no clue re NYC’s “how’s my driving” tool. Wow!
2. VA used to have a path for reporting reckless drivers — ended decade+ ago. NYC / NY have anything?
3. Continuing ignorance, Ty for “punishment passing” use. My experience: far less now than a decade ago.

Have You Ever Been Dealt the Punishment Pass?
If you’ve ever tried to ride a bike in America, it’s pretty likely.

Forcing them to watch the boss's speech and telling them they'll get in trouble for making fun of him.

That's just a sign of a respected and capable leader, folks.

NEW: Pentagon officials are forcing staff to watch Pete Hegseth's "Warrior" speech he forced generals to listen to.

Officials are even "testing" staff to see if they watched — and are threatening consequences if they lie about watching it or if they mock it, sources tell @swin24.bsky.social and I.
The Pentagon Is Ordering Staff to Watch Hegseth’s ‘MAGA Garbage’ Speech… Or Else
Defense Department sources tell Zeteo that staff have been warned that if they don’t watch or read the speech, or if they speak negatively of it, they could face severe consequences.

Data centers are "shaping up to be the mother of all political issues...pretty much everyone pays electric rates, & under Trump they’re starting to skyrocket...he’s simultaneously accelerating demand w/ his support for data center buildout, & constricting supply by shutting down cheap solar & wind."

The World Cup and Olympics should boycott the U.S. rather than let their events be used as weapons by the fascist Trump. They won't, of course, because of their own corruption. But they must realize this is shaping up to look like the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

If things were going to plan stuff like this simply wouldn't exist. The goal here is the elimination of fossil fuels, not "lots of batteries" or "lots of solar panels"

Driving just 100 km with a car using biofuels would require close to 3,000 litres of water due to the huge amount of water they require.

It would only take about 20 litres to produce solar electricity to drive an EV that same distance.

The Trump regime is pushing coal, but refusing to enforce a Biden-era rule that would prevent more than 3,700 cases of Black Lung disease, which gives coal miners a slow, suffocating death.

But Trump doesn't give one thought to coal miners.

He's for fossil capital, not for Americans at all.
"Right this minute there is some 35-year-old dying right now trying to get his breath," said United Mine Workers President Cecil E. Roberts. "This is the worst form of death one can imagine. We put people in prison for life for
murdering people with a pillow holding it over their face until they are dead. Right now those responsible for a lack of action, those responsible for challenging this rule, those who could do something who are not doing
something, you are just as guilty as the person who has that pillow right now." Miners across the U.S. are contracting black lung at younger ages, with the highest rates - 1 in 5 miners - occurring in areas like coal-rich Appalachia
that have seen decades of heavy extraction, according to federal data. Health experts have reported seeing miners in their 40s, 50s, and even in their 30s with advanced stages of the diseases caused by dust that's churned up when mining equipment cuts, crushes and grinds rock to reach ore or coal seams. Exposure to silica, which is 20 times more toxic than coal dust, can lead to incurable and debilitating lung disease, including silicosis, lung cancer and
black lung.

Months before catastrophic floods swept through an Alaska Native village on Sunday, the Trump administration canceled a $20 million grant meant to protect the community from extreme flooding. At the time, the EPA administrator said he was eliminating "wasteful DEI and Environmental Justice grants."
