I was thinking about this in the context of recent baseless accusations of a game using AI art, where the proof was "I think it looks weird." That's not good enough in the current digital landscape. You have to verify source and context for things that seem unusual

FWIW, you should be able to use this replacement BIOS for WonderSwan: github.com/asiekierka/m...

Yes. It will go live in time.

i happen to be directly involved in one and cautiously interested in the other. i will not elaborate which is which.

(thank you for your efforts!)

Unfortunately, at this point in time, only direct sales from Germany via the online shop are planned. I am deeply aware that the costs to import one to the USA specifically will be very high and we are open to potential ways to lessen the burden on American buyers.

It uses removable storage and a FAT32 partition, so "unlimited" (limited only by how big your card is).

So, today I'm announcing a new book project... and doing a call for papers: crpgbook.wordpress.com/2025/10/31/t...

It's an anthology of video game history outside the usual US perspective - an accessible & exciting panorama of different realities - and I'll pay 300 USD per article.

Please share :)
The Video Game History Expansion Pack – Pitch your story
Today I’m putting my money where my mouth is and launching a new project — a book focused on game history outside of the usual North American perspectives.

Crunchyroll is destroying its subtitles for no good reason
daiz.moe/crunchyroll-...

A ton of research and effort went into this one. This is the article to read to get to the bottom of Crunchyroll's subtitle changes!

Replies here will show up as comments (eventually)
Crunchyroll is destroying its subtitles for no good reason | Daiz.moe
With the Fall 2025 anime season, Crunchyroll demonstrates zero respect for anime as a medium as the presentation quality of its subtitles reach an all-time low.

The repository is not fully up to date with regards to the PCB/shell. Please wait a few more days for more information - I'll keep you updated.

(Also, a regular game's shell won't work - it won't have the necessary port cutouts).

I'm not sure if I vibe with the idea that's been making the rounds that Luckey is doing ModRetro for any other reason than using the military-industrial complex money to relive his personal teenage fantasies.

Going as far as "covert supply chain for military FPGAs"?? He's using Chinese chips, like,

I've noticed a fair few BBC Micro enthusiasts on my Bluesky feed. I wonder - how much work would it be to add LLVM-MOS support for that architecture? What good documentation sources exist, if any?

I've also asked 0xtob to re-license the old documentation under CC terms, and converted its text from late 2000s HTML to modern Markdown:

The preservation at Nintendo is pretty good; we know this from the Gigaleak, as unfortunate as its circumstances are. They also have most games which they can legally republish up on Nintendo Switch Online. But it is hard to convince people to pay for games which are ubiquitous on the Internet.
asie @asie.pl · 16d
I suspect there's a reason Sega abandoned the model of selling their Mega Drives games' back catalog on Steam, complete with Steam Workshop support. I also suspect there's a reason sites which list which Steam re-releases contain trivially extractable ROMs are not very popular.
asie @asie.pl · 16d
i disagree.
(a) Skills which are free in a gift economy are absolutely not free when you're a business.
(b) People are just not that interested in paying for the games. There's a reason Nintendo abandoned the Virtual Console model, and i assure you it's not because it was too profitable.

ever tried to watch a direct to LaserDisc anime OVA?
