Carney: "We can't control the trade policy of the US. We recognize it has fundamentally changed from the policy in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, & it's a situation where US has tariffs against every trading partner... what we we can control is developing new partnerships, including w/econ giants of Asia"
Have toured Hearst Castle more than once. It's fascinating. Freaks me out that he was able to buy so much from war ravaged Europe. Then realize if he hadn't it would still have been sold, but just scattered. Not a defense.
when I see people celebrating the Louvre heist, I can't help but think about how so, so many ancient Egyptian artifacts didn't survive to the modern age because they were stolen and disassembled or melted down

Well, well, well, well, well, if it isn’t the consequences of their actions
In Abrego criminal case, govt will not object to defense subpoenaing former AUSA Ben Schrader, who apparently quit over the decision to indict Abrego, to testify at the vindictive prosecution hearing. Govt *is* fighting production of emails & memos about why Schrader declined to charge the case.

Still remember Icahn seeming like an over the top bully as he attacked Ackman on CNBC years ago. Even felt sorry for him a bit. I was wrong and Icahn didn't go far enough.
Billionaire Bill Ackman calls Cuomo’s AI-generated, racialized anti-Zohran ad “a bit of humor” that’s “worth a watch”

Trump is just starting in his effort to unleash the tactics and abuses of the “War On Terror” in places like Chicago in ways previously thought unthinkable in our Land of the Free, and it is indeed a war of terror
a thing that sticks w/ me here is when my Zeteo colleague Liam Mann and I spoke to a man who was there when the south shore apartment building was spectacularly (not a compliment) raided by the Trump administration, just the look on his face when is asked: trump is doing this claiming it’s part of…
Zeteo traveled to Chicago for a first-hand look at the president's militarized crackdown on one of America’s great cities.

Notice they aren't saying doctored or AI audio. They suck
Former President Reagan's foundation said today night it's "reviewing legal options" after Canada's Ontario provincial government created an ad campaign against tariffs "using selective audio and video" of a 1987 address by the late president.
Reagan foundation "reviewing legal options" over Ontario, Canada, tariffs ad
The foundation said the ad that prompted Trump to cancel trade talks with Canada ad "misrepresents" Reagan's address.

so much of politics nowadays is people not wanting to do basic politics, everyone wants a shortcut
"normies do not care about this thing and so it is no use raising a stink" is imho just an excuse for not doing politics, which is the job of making normies care about something

Often, but right now, it's the left that is arguing that it's just a building, not important (compared to everything else) and the further left that continues on with it being a sign of colonialism, imperialism, etc. so maybe it's good, actually, that it's coming down.

im sorry but if you think “normies” dont care about the white house being demolished for a half billion dollar golden vanity ballroom as the economy implodes then you just arent as plugged in as you think you are

This enrages me. Honestly, you should just roll up the paper, throw it in the trash can, and join the White House Office of Communications if this is what you’re going to do these days.

i think hiding economic data is a real incentive for republicans to keep the government closed

Don’t laugh at this. Don’t dismiss it. They’re serious. Prepare for it. And get ready to fight against it.

Here are the companies destroying the east wing of the White House
One more thing about DJT's "no cost" blaaroom (which we know will be a lie) that even if true, the East Wing had value that was literally destroyed. That right there is a huge cost.

Ad: This clip, then cutting to people waiting in food lines, then to Johnson saying he isn't familiar with X, Y, or Z, then cutting to U.S. citizens being arrested by masked goons, then a quote from Roberts and the immunity decision.
Leavitt: "At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is really the president's main priority."
Even if true (and not sure, he seems pretty obsessed) the R's excel at taking statements out of content and running with them, seeing it done to them occasionally doesn't freak me out.

The US froze aid to Colombia
Much of which is used to fight drug cartels
Because the president of Colombia said the US killed Colombian fishermen
In what is supposed to be a US military campaign to stop drug cartels
