The planet has reached its first catastrophic climate tipping point.

160 scientists from 23 countries warn that unless global heating is cut to 1.2°C as fast as possible, warm-water coral reefs will vanish “at any meaningful scale.”

The science is clear: We need to act now.

Sometimes a spider turns up in your
kitchen and you have to photograph it before putting it out. This Xysticus sp Crab spider will have been better outside anyway, it certainly won’t do it any harm. #Arachtober
A brown and cream crab spider on a white background. The spider is demonstrating it’s common name with it’s crab like stance, the two front legs are curved around forwards like crabs legs. This is a male as it has enlarged palps.

‘Long necks’ is the theme for bird of the day: got a Canada goose showing off his long neck and tongue, and a heron and a pelican - heron may be more worried about that beak!

#BirdOfTheDay #LondonBirds #UKBirding #BirdPhotography #Wetlands #Birds
Three Canada geese (and the butt end of a fourth) on a lake. They have brown wing feathers, white chests and abdomens, with long black necks and faces. There is a white patch under the chin, wrapping up above the eyes. Two of the geese are acting normally. One goose has stretched his neck way up, honking, with his tongue sticking out. If you ever wanted to know what a goose tongue looks like, you’re welcome! Two birds in this photograph. Blurred in the background is a pelican. It’s mainly white with some darker mottling on its wing feathers. Its very large beak is being held downwards, a bit open. In the foreground is a grey pelican, back to camera. It is looking towards the water. It’s mainly grey, with a black and white crown.

Ahahahaha nah. I’m just indecisive so went for both 🤣 and thank you kindly ☺️☺️

Today’s bird of the day theme is wings or droplets. I’ve decided to go for both :)) Crow flying against a blue sky and droplets forming as a tufted duck plunges into the water
#BirdOfTheDay #LondonBirds #UKBirding #Birds #Corvids #Wetlands #NaturePhotography
A black crow soaring against a bright blue sky with light clouds. Its wings are stretched out, its finger feathers splayed. It is looking intently a bit to the right as if wondering where to fly to next. A photo of a brown tufted duck diving into the lake water. Its head is already submerged into the water m, a crown of water marks where the head has gone. Its body is in the air slightly, on its way to join the head lol. Its legs are in the back, and I think it’s kicked a bit, creating a small wave behind it.

My entry for #BlueSkyMonday is an Irish #Rainbow ps. don’t any of you be thinking you can come over here to steal Irish gold. Our Leprechauns will kick your ankles 🍀 #Ireland #photography #EastCoastKin
A vivid rainbow arcs across a softly glowing peach-coloured sky, its bands of colour clear and bright. In the foreground, the dark, twisting branches of a leafless tree stretch upward, their intricate shapes contrasting beautifully with the smooth gradient of the sky. The scene feels calm and ethereal, capturing a fleeting moment of light after rain.

They had a choice. Go with an accomplished, intelligent woman or some bloke off X Factor who makes dodgy comments about asylum seekers. Of course they went with the bloke, who then proceeds to talk about women being silenced. Next up, Farage talks about how it feels to be an asylum seeker in the UK
