I should make a version of ublock that replaces every ad with a playable copy of Doom
i don't click on new york post articles but i can't honestly say it's because of any principled stand. it's because it has so many ads that if you let it all load the page weight is around 2 gigs. you could load one article claiming that sidewalks are bad or you could run about 500 copies of doom
lol, this reminds me of when I had to build a windows 3.1 VM to run Lotus 123 for my land lord, who was running their rec-league soccer league on a cursed spreadsheet using macros to do schedule optimization that he wrote in the early 90s and never updated. And then their 20yo desktop crashed…

Best defensive performance by a Yamamoto since the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto won Games 2, 6 and 7 of the World Series. He threw a complete game in Game 2, six innings and 96 pitches on Friday and came back Saturday to throw 2.2 scoreless innings on 34 pitches and induce the World Series-winning double play. A legendary performance.
Congrats to the Dodgers, that was epic.

In normal times, this would be a major scandal occupying huge amounts of newsprint and attention.

Now, this will be buried by new outrages within a few days.
Kash Patel was angry about his publicly-available jet logs indicating he’d flown to see his musician girlfriend perform so he forced out a senior FBI official overseeing aviation, Bloomberg reports

Wish I could disagree with this.
Even if it all stopped tomorrow, I don't think the damage that's been done can be repaired in my lifetime. But at least we could start. Instead, tomorrow will be worse.
A poll from the journal Nature found that 75% of researchers in the U.S. are considering leaving the country. That includes a man who’s been dubbed the "Mozart of Math." (This PBS story on the scientific brain drain is heartbreaking & ominous for medicine, imo.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLvO...
System Shock 2 was effing creepy.

This is the in-this-house era I came of age in
Minsky cycle, but for political stability.
Landing on a *rubber deck*, which was apparently (briefly) a thing?
What witchcraft is this?
So happy for you! She’s adorable :)

That seems… not legal?
Yeah, that’s straight-up apocalyptic. Bomb shelter built outside the storm surge affected area is about the only thing that can handle that.
…and, there it is. 18th, here we come!
