Between this discovery and the upcoming release of EUV, I might be getting back into Paradox Grand Strategy in a big way.
So when was somebody going to tell me you can now play landless nobles in Crusader Kings 3? And now all of Asia is an option?

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”
It’s very telling that opening your publication to MAGA “thought” requires a massive downgrade in quality control.
Hi actual Californian here, who’s covered Newsom for years. His record on trans people sucks. Happy to clear that up for you.

Yep, it’s a concentration camp.
This looks like a concentration camp.
Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.

Substantively engaging with an (ill-informed!) questioner’s gotchas about your ongoing federal case would be the real disqualifier here.
Today's winner of the "Please STFU" Award is Kat Abughazaleh.

She was right to hang up! Don't talk about the facts of your federal indictment on a podcast! Or anywhere except your lawyer's office!

Sincerely,

Every Lawyer, Literally All Of Us, Heed Our Counsel And Shut The Fuck Up

This is NOT a "Katie Porter moment." Any attorney worth their salt will tell a client NOT to comment in detail about pending litigation, ESPECIALLY when it's criminal. Being angry that someone won't endanger their freedom for your interview is fucked up. And frankly, she handled it quite gracefully.
I just had a Katie Porter moment with congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh. The interview lasted 3 minutes.

It’s a sign of the times that the people who funded the WelcomePAC report that’s telling Democrats they are “out of touch” with ordinary Americans are mostly billionaires, hedge fund managers, VCs, and corporate execs.

it's the unitary executive, the tribune of the people, the all-powerful sovereign, the sun and the moon. it can bomb fishermen and deport citizens. but it cannot, it turns out, free up money to pay for SNAP—there are laws, after all.

In case you, like Tara Palmeri, need a reminder

When a journalist asks you to discuss the specific evidence against you in a federal indictment you should:

call me crazy but i think inviting someone under federal indictment to an interview, peppering them with questions about the indictment that you know they can’t answer until you cause them to leave, then calling it a “Katie Porter moment” is not good journalism

This is just embarrassing. Have some fucking dignity, Jesus.

Example No. 512 of Trump's War on Workers:
The federal government has been shutdown for nearly a month, and soon 40 million Americans will lose their SNAP benefits. What is Trump focused on? His gold-plated, billionaire-funded White House ballroom. His own spokeswoman called it his "main priority."

With respect, Tara, no one in their right mind who was just federally indicted would discuss the factual details of their case.

Donald Trump does that kind of thing because he is Donald Trump. That resulted in a criminal conviction and a civil fraud loss at trial, as well as gag orders.

wow you're telling me kat is smart enough to not discuss ongoing criminal litigation

Prop 50 is existential, folks. #YesOnProp50
If California voters fail to pass Prop 50, the GOP could steal enough House seats to pass a nationwide abortion ban after 20 weeks, overriding state laws. Don't expect the Senate filibuster to save us—they might nuke it to end the shutdown

It’s been 30 days. This government shutdown is the second longest in U.S. history.
Take a wild guess who the president was during the longest shutdown ever?
Yep, same guy.
