"When the Supreme Court recently allowed immigration agents in the Los Angeles area to take race into consideration during sweeps, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said that citizens shouldn’t be concerned.

“If the officers learn that the individual they stopped is a U.S. citizen or otherwise lawfully in the United States,” Kavanaugh wrote, “they promptly let the individual go.”

But that is far from the reality many citizens have experienced. Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents. They’ve had their necks kneeled on. They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear. At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them. One of those women had already had the door of her home blown off while Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem watched.

About two dozen Americans have said they were held for more than a day without being able to phone lawyers or loved ones."

Here's a statement I recieved from Typhoon Texas this morning. They cited "security concerns," but a local TV station reached out to law enforcement - no credible threats were reported. Amanda Rose with Pride Katy said that they take threats very seriously, and if they had gotte one, they'd say so.

Typhoon Texas is a waterpark for everyone, and we welcome families and individuals from all communities to enjoy a safe, fun experience. However, when circumstances arise that prevent us from ensuring that level of safety, we must act responsibly to protect all who visit and work here.

We appreciate our community's understanding and remain committed to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and family-friendly environment at Typhoon Texas.

By my count, this is the fourth attack on a Pride event in Texas this October either from LOTT, Texas officials, or other activists. There is a large, out in the open network of conservatives who look for Pride events and berate them and their sponsors into cancelling or moving events.

Typhoon Texas' cancellation of Katy Pride's event is the latest in a string of online attacks on Pride celebrations during the month of October, when LGBTQ+ History Month is usually celebrated.

Last week, New Braunfels Pride Fest pulled out of a planned event at the Comal County Fair and Rodeo after Libs of TikTok posted about the event and a Texas State Representative complained. (New Braunfels Pride Fest moved its event to a local church.) In Nacogdoches, PineyWoods Pride Festival was forced to relocate its planned celebration on National Coming Out Day to Lufkin. Millard's Crossing, a historic village and venue in Nacogdoches, cancelled PineyWoods Pride's event after conservative backlash. And in the North Texas suburbs of Southlake and Keller, a pride event took place despite fierce attacks from North Texas Republican officials.
