Yes your taxes should support disabled people.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.

The face masks turned out to be faulty ☹

Don't think of it as a door being closed and locked, but an opportunity to leave work early and get more face masks 😁 😷 👍

Found an old photo at work which had been redacted by cutting and stamped "Not for public release".

Curious, I looked up the area on Google Maps and found a military base.

I could zoom in close enough to see individual cars in satellite imagery from this year. For free.

Times sure have changed!

You gently run your hand through the rack. You can feel it—pure cotton, rich wool, Irish linen. The plump buttonholes are handsewn; the buttons attached with a firm shank. You flip the price tag over. It's affordable

You buy the jacket and go home, which is only 15 mins away. Your apt is $600/month

I wish appliances were manufactured to similar levels of quality as aircraft and came with similar maintenance manuals.

Looking forward to my $10k kettle that requires servicing every 500 boils and will still be in use in 75 years time (unless it unexpectedly collides with terrain)

among all of this, I still can't get over that they got the same $$ for one report as a disability representation organisation gets for one whole year, and for some two years

"governments can be worried that starting a new poverty measure is like creating a stick they can be hit with.
[...]
Treasurer Jim Chalmers didn't respond to questions about poverty measures by our publication deadline."
Poverty is about more than income, but that is what we measure
We get detailed measurements of population, participation and productivity. Advocates want to add a fourth "p" — poverty — so we can understand our economy.

In the name of controlled wage growth our government is playing musical chairs, but if you don't get a chair you die, and every time they take a chair away they announce "remember, if you lose it's your fault but if you win you deserve it!" Some people playing can't walk. Others have assigned seats.

Miners to get an early look at Labor’s new green laws

Tom Rabe

The Albanese government will give mining companies and other stakeholders draft extracts of its environmental protection laws before they go to parliament, as Environment Minister Murray Watt tries to rebuild trust after earlier negotiations on the reforms collapsed in acrimony.

This two-parter below is exactly why it's hard to make clothes in the United States.

Let's look at how much it costs to produce a button-up shirt in the US. 🧵
Someone on Twitter replies to me: "meh. buy american or stfu."

Two hours later, in a separate thread, the write: "$30 for a single button-up is ridiculous unless it is decent quality silk."

How the media are gaslighting trans people
"How the media are gaslighting trans people"
6 frame comic in two columns. on the left, Trump, Hegseth and Bondi are disparaging trans people and vowing to exterminate them. On the right, newspaper article with the same images of them, reporting what they said but with no mention of trans people.
