I bang on about this a lot: I think the combination of a global pandemic, underregulated internet/SM, collapse/corruption of trustworthy media, plus now unregulated genAI, is a wildly toxic environment for radicalisation & mental health. We see the results of that in our politics & lives every day

We see public figures regularly go mad and destroy themselves.

I feel like what this means is that we have to develop a personal idea of what is good and right, and keep ourselves honest about it, because this place will validate whatever path we choose to walk, and the social incentives are mostly to walk really bad ones.

One criticism of my criticism is that many don't want the government to control speech by deciding what is and isn't truth, but handing over the controls to self-interested millionaires (and now billionaires) gives them power that can't even be voted out.
