I live in a big city and all my relationships are practically long-distance anyway so maybe this wouldn’t actually change much

Absolute bangers like this
„This remarkable identification with women was found in these little boys to be
associated with (1) mothers who acted and dressed like boys until adolescence; (2)
fathers who were almost literally absent from the home, day or night, weekdays or
weekends; (3) the parents’ excessive permissiveness, so that the developing femininity
was openly encouraged by allowing the boys to dress as girls whenever they chose (‚He’s
so beautiful; wouldn't he look lovely as a girl?’); and especially by (4) excessive and
intimate body contact for many hours, day and night, from birth to the time they were
seen at age 4-5, this delay in mother-infant separation perpetuated by the little boys’
constant touching of their mothers nude bodies and clothes.“ (Stoller, 1984, S. 126f.)

I'm reading a paper on 20th century psychoanalysis' views on trans people and oh dear there's some choice quotes in there.

Funny how people will put "designer" in front of "vagina" and never in front of "hip replacement".

Kind of why I enjoy Warhammer 40K lore.

Oh, the guy is called “Angron”? Cool, got it.

Villains (and other characters) don’t always have to be complex and multi-dimensional. Sometimes a good, iconic villain can simply be a guy that walks in and shouts, “I AM ARAGHAST OF THE BLACK LEGION. PILLAGER OF A THOUSAND WORLDS. YOU WILL MEET YOUR END BY MY HAND!”

In order for that to change getting a large tattoo would have to become ALL of: readily available, cheap, mostly painless, easily reversible.

And I don’t see that happening any time soon.
aesthr.com
I’m sure there’s more people who have tattoos today than ever before, but it’s mostly very small and few pieces.

People who you see and go “oh, that’s tattoo person” will always be rare simply because it’s not exactly easy to get large pieces done and it’s a big commitment.

Learning that people have been saying “everyone is getting tattoos these days” for at least hundreds of years.

Yeah, I’m sure it’ll turn uncool any minute now.

(I'm 'fifty-two years an imbecile')
Work, Work, Work

On about this date in 1801, Britain's first census was begun. In a subsequent survey conducted in 1881, residents were asked to furnish their "rank, profession, or occupation." Some of the more puzzling responses, as preserved by the London Genealogical Society, included:

Colourist of artificial fish

Knight of the Thimble

Disinfector of railways

Examiner of underclothing

Invisible net maker

Electric bath attendant

Proprietor of midgets

Fifty-two years an imbecile

Knocker-up of workpeople

Maker of sand views

Gymnast to house painter

Turnip shepherd

Emasculator

Sampler of drugs

Fatuous pauper

Drowner

Count as female

Fish-bender

Goldfish-catcher

Cow-banger

Running about

Grape-dryer

Beef twister

Random waller

This framing would ignore that gender is socially constructed as it’s kind of backwards.

I would say that as embodied and social beings we find ourselves in a socially constructed framework that we have to integrate somehow, even if we reject it. Therefore our bodies become subject to it as well.

Also really good trebuchets in this movie towards the end.

This is one for the trebuchet appreciators.

I mean the same is true for Tron: Legacy

Although I haven't seen Ares yet and I expect it to be much worse

I'm not sure I've ever seen a movie where the soundtrack was preferable to the script before but Tron Ares is IT, man

Did you know that Kingdom of Heaven reuses music from The 13th Warrior?

It's a really strange choice, especially since Kingdom has plenty of original score.

One reason why I like the Dawn/Rise version more. They give a reason for the rapid evolution of the apes and only skip forward a few years or decades so it makes sense that humans are still just present day humans.

Kind of a shame that out of his big roles Orlando Bloom is probably 1st known for Legolas in LotR where he does next to zero acting with a character of no depth, 2nd for Will Turner in Pirates of the Carribean which is fine but unremarkable, and not for Kingdom of Heaven, his best performance.

This isn't even unhinged. This is basic writing advice. Recognize a hopeless draft when you see one, especially when it's your own.
