Excited to share some tips for writing about polls for anyone coming in cold to the subject!

(Pictured: a thing on which pollsters are probably not calling you these days).

on balance, I think it's been very beneficial that "talking" to an LLM immediately activates my strongest person -with-limited-conversational-energy* tendencies

*look I also cannot bear one more round of Internet Introvert discourse

(it should also be noted here that I am a hypocrite)

I do also feel that I should disclose here that I referred to myself in an IRL conversation this week as "fundamentals-pilled"

What predicts which NYC Democrats backed Cuomo or Mamdani in the primary?

I use March/April (green lines) & May/June (black lines) @today.yougov.com surveys to examine the attitudes that predict who backed Cuomo or Mamdani.

The most predictive question for both? Attitudes on police spending.

7/ A small sampling of notable people who were tracked using Alatmides/FirstWAP tech. Why and by whom...unclear. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Who Was Tracked

Altamides targeted a phone linked to actor Jared Leto four times in 2012.

Five tracking attempts were made on a phone associated with Asma al-Assad, the ousted first lady of Syria, in 2013. Attempts were also made to track the phone of her sister-in-law.

In 2009, 23andMe founder Anne Wojcicki was tracked more than 1,o00 times.

In 2013, 18 attempts were made to track a phone linked to Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former prime minister of Qatar.

i'm glad the important traditions are continuing to be handed down

unfortunately the fiction trope of a character being told to "turn on the news" and immediately encountering the plot relevant information does not always translate beautifully to the real and very crowded news environment!

“why is no one talking about this” is especially acute in an era of algorithmic media consumption, but at its core is the much older belief that if something were really important you’d have been directly and immediately informed in your preferred way on schedule

do the 6-7 kids even know why six is afraid of seven

(it's because "seven ate nine" although I do appreciate the child who informed us upon hearing this joke that it's because "7 is bigger." fair!)

“This is very close to middle-schoolers’ previous favorite number, 69,” Sean Rainville, a math YouTuber, says of the figure charged with innuendo that once had no rival in the number arena. “There’s some relief for teachers that this meme is not sexual.”

The Numbers Six and Seven Are Making Life Hell for Math Teachers
‘Six seven’ sends teens into a frenzy that schools have been powerless to stop. ‘It’s like throwing catnip at cats.’
