Anyone who dials the phone number 917-555-5829 first hears a melodic lullaby followed by a man coldly repeating seemingly random numbers. No one knows who is doing this or why.

Theories abound. Are they launch codes? Is it an encoded message? The phone number becomes an internet sensation but no one is able to crack it.

One day, a podcaster closely following the mysterious number dials the number on a live broadcast but there is no lullaby, no numbers. Only the sound of a woman addressing the caller as "Hank" and pleading desperately for help. Anyone who calls the number afterwards only gets a busy signal.

The police are constantly called in by the concerned public but without an actual crime or identifiable victim, their hands are tied. It is up to the fans of the phone number to investigate.

The trail runs cold until a numbers fan discovers a connection with a declassified government document from the 50s with haunting similarities yet scant details. Lullabies, random numbers, and a location known only by "The Tuning Room."

The internet sleuths investigate until the podcaster becomes the first human being to get a call back from the number.

One of the hard parts of writing a novel is listening when there's the tiniest feeling that a scene, character, etc just doesn't feel right and pushing back on the desire to move on because I already wrote so much of the story.

Not sure if anyone else writes like me but my novel has a lot of organized complexity. It needs to be effortless for the reader to follow while maintainable for me to keep everything straight, especially when jumping forwards/backwards in segments of the novel. #authorksy #booksky #amwriting

The most common error I see as a book editor is incorrectly punctuated dialogue.

NO: “Nice to meet you.” She said.
YES: “Nice to meet you,” she said.

NO: “Likewise.” The editor said.
YES: “Likewise,” the editor said.

NO: She smiled, “Hi."
YES: She smiled. “Hi.”

I totally relate with that. There are days where I spend more time editing and just removing any progress I made before (measured by word count) so I try not to think too hard about the count, and reassure myself the work is moving forwards.
