There are laws about how to interdict suspected criminals on the high seas.

There are laws about how to renovate federal buildings.

There are laws about how not to monetize the presidency.

There are laws. We should enforce them. And not normalize the flagrant violation of them in the newspapers.
Last thought on Platner, I sincerely think he has a leadership opportunity here - he should drop out, get his tattoo cover up, and dedicate himself to working for de-radicalization orgs, specifically for white men seeking to get out of fascist circles. Ex-MAGA need an offramp to rejoin society.

These poll results from France closely align with conditions that often precede fascism:
Right, this too - that he's had this tattoo for 20 years and has only now said he'll get it fixed because it's hurting him politically is a very strong red line, but he's also made so many troubling statements about why he signed up and his views on military conflicts that are all big red flags.
So these are the wars Plattner would have volunteered to be in and like I do not for the life of me understand what we are doing here??

ICE agents greeted by a hero on arrival in New York this evening.

Make statues of this.

ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.
Maine's primary isn't until June.

Somewhere there's gotta be a lefty Mainer who is seeing all the support that people have for a younger candidate with unapologetically anti-fascist progressive policy stances and a fighting spirit, and is considering tossing their hat in.

Oh dear god:

He reportedly used to call it β€œmy Totenkopf” in a β€œcutesy little way.”

(How in the world did he or his advisors think he could just wave away this mess?!)

In political organizing, there is often a time-lag between peaceful mass protests and the impact of the community building that takes place during and after them. And you often won’t be aware of the linkage between the latter and the former unless you’re part of the organizing process.
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.
Surprised AECOM was even willing to look at this bid. They are very large and very corporate, they had to have lawyers and PR people inside screaming not to take this on.

Isn't it better to just find a good candidate instead of having to twist yourself into a pretzel to explain why the "accidental" Nazi tattoos might be fine. I bet there are some people in Maine who don't have Nazi tattoos, accidental or otherwise. Mills shouldn't run either.
Also fascinating is the cognitive dissonance on display when someone smugly says "don't sign up for a protest/any circulated petitions or follow-up contact sheets" and then a minute later says urges filling out a sign up form on a completely opaque website owned by a couple people no one knows.
A bunch of unions haven't been able to line up exactly to May 1, but have set dates afterward, so there can be a building wave to build pressure over time.
That's more than many CNY residents make in a YEAR.
Oh man, the New York Young Republicans implicated in the Nazi groupchat scandal ran up a $23,000 tab eating filet mignon and drinking at a hotel in Syracuse -- a city with one of the highest child poverty rates *in the nation* -- and then refused to pay the bill.
That's what I'm saying - also, working to develop specific and actionable policy demands across movements at local, state, and national levels.
My read is that there’s no overlap, but tbh I hope there is. National formal organizing groups need to be networking with anarchist decentralized movements just as much as with grassroots organizations and labor - at present, none of these levels are working together effectively or meaningfully.
If you're telling everyone to "sign up at GeneralStrike.us " and you aren't also talking just as excitedly about/planning and organizing for May Day 2028, I just can't take you seriously.

NFTs are amazing because you apparently β€œown” them but the AWS outtage yesterday took out everyones apes lol
I genuinely hope Indivisible calls for a General Strike the Sunday and Monday following the next rally date, in part because it's good practice for the long term sustained one that we actually need, and in part to show all the terminally online folks that planning a GS isn't just filling out a form.

Sorry, but β€œhistory” proves mass nonviolent community protests NEVER work. The ONLY thing that can bring people together is reading my miserable posts. Smiling people hugging in the sunshine accomplishes NOTHING. Reading my punishing content, indoors and alone, is the only path forward.
