Geeky about books, film, & musicals. There’s always a song in my head. Delighted by: Judy Garland, Emma Thompson, Stephen Sondheim, David Tennant, Terry Pratchett. BE KIND, or at least don't be a dick. Saffer in UK 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️-adjacent, she/her

And then singing so beautifully 😍
Oh this episode must have been so hard for you! 😥

I’m crushing on Mark a little, but not David. So selfishly I hope David goes and Mark stays.
We were all Joe in that moment!
They really should make it standard. Or not do it at all. Nobody wants it to get dark at 3pm-ish. I say abolish the whole thing. We didn’t do it in SA and look how well we turned out! 🤣
Well, ok fair enough, but obviously I meant *where I am*!
And with that I've finally seen all 10 Best Picture nominees from 1939. One of my least favourite of the bunch (as expected), but the ending got me.

Betty Field is intensely annoying in this, and I have a suspicion it's what Jean Hagen based her "Singin' in the Rain" performance on. 😆
There's a reason the film studio is called "20th Century Fox"!
I remember having to wrap my head around this concept when I was a child. AKA when you're *supposed* to learn this sort of thing. Not run around as a grown adult in 2025 telling people you were born in the 19th century. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Public Service Announcement:

The 19th Century DOES NOT MEAN "The 1900s". The 20th Century is not what we're in now.

Suddenly I'm seeing people getting this wrong everywhere I go, and it's driving me crazy. Gnaaargh.
Ah I’m glad I could accidentally help! And thanks for the info. If you do rewatch it soon, do let me know if her part was bigger/smaller than you remembered!

What a weird name for a dog. But sorry for their loss.
Someone who’s seen The Meyerowitz Stories (2017), can you tell me how big Emma Thompson’s part in it is? Trying to complete her filmography (because she’s glorious), but I’d rather do bigger roles first.
No I’m sure it’s this weekend? Being the last weekend in October.
Blergh, I forgot that the clocks go back this weekend.
I suspect they think everything is about America again.
👏👏👏 I too will be voting Green next elections! Pity it’s so far away. Who knew a party leader standing up so strongly for trans rights would get them so many members?

Oh yeah… @zackpolanski.bsky.social did! Well done Zack for recognising that the majority of British people are NOT hateful bigots.
This absolute embarrassment of a post (where Labour pretends that a lack of social media controls murdered Brianna Ghey, rather than the rampant transphobia they are gleefully pushing daily) is much improved by the comments on it. Always good to be reminded the majority of people are decent.
Meeting yesterday with Brianna Ghey's mother Esther - and pupils at Brianna's former school - was a powerful reminder of why controls on social media and smartphone use in schools is so important for children, teachers and parents. (1/2)
This would be hilarious if it wasn’t so absolutely abhorrent. How dare you suggest that social media controls would have kept Brianna Ghey safe, when she was murdered by the rampant hateful transphobia that you and your party keep perpetuating? You are SICKENING.
Exactly, I used to do FOH at Matilda and the very little kids really couldn’t cope with it, for the most part. And when they were disruptive their parents didn’t do anything to stop them, either. Just a bad choice on their parts to take such little ones to such a long slow that isn’t aimed at them.
Thanks, I HATE IT.
I would laugh if this wasn't so true 😭
That's hilarious and also infuriating! 😂
